DO Be Generous
Please show your generous support and appreciation to the writers, who worked so hard on the stories, by voting, leaving encouraging comments and tell others how much you’ve enjoyed the stories. Wait patiently for their next post. Be generous to the readers who have invested their precious time in reading and commenting on the stories. Let them enjoy the next chapters as soon as you can.
DO Give Constructive and Supportive Feedback
Constructive comments are welcomed, as long as they are specific and are given in a respectful and supportive manner. It is okay if you do not find the piece of work to your taste. Simply stop reading the story and find one that does suit your taste. However, it is not okay to leave rude and insulting feedback. These comments will be removed without notice.
DO Respect Others Views And Opinions
The Wattpad Community is a diverse group with different opinions and views. But it means that everybody needs to be tolerant and respect people whose ideas are different to their own. Of course, if you feel that someone is expressing views or opinions that are offensive, defamatory, abusive or inappropriate, you can report them by clicking on the report button or submit a request at support.wattpad.com.
DO Respect The Privacy And Safety Of Others
Revealing personally identifying information about someone else, such as their name, address, email address or phone number is strictly prohibited. Behaviour that endangers the safety and integrity of the Wattpad community or is in any way malicious may result in permanent banning.
DO Rate and Categorize Your Stories Appropriately
Violence and sexuality described in story contents may not be suitable for all readers. Appropriately rated and categorized stories will allow readers to discover stories of their interest. Story ratings are not only based on the textual content, but also the images and videos associated with the story. Pornography and erotica are not permitted on Wattpad. Wattpad encourages writers to rate their own stories. Please refer to the content guidelines for the definitions of the different ratings.
DON’T Share Stories That Aren't Yours to Share
Only share stories that you have written or have permission to share. If you did not write the stories yourself, make sure you have permission from the rights holders before sharing. If you are unsure whether you can share something, check out our Copyright Information page.
DON’T Spam
There’s a fine line between promoting your stories and spamming. The more you can make your message personal and relevant, the less likely you are to be reported for spam. Don’t promote your stories as a comment on other people’s stories. Do not link to e-commerce or other similar sites, or post comments to promote other products or services; we consider this spam and nobody likes spam. Comments, messages and club posts sent via bots will result in immediate deletion of accounts. However, you are welcomed to link your published novels that are for sale on your own profile.
DON’T Rant, Flame, Troll and Fight
Wattpad is a friendly and welcoming environment for everyone to enjoy. It's not the place for you to express rage from other parts of your life. Inappropriate behaviour, including abusive, defamatory, obscene, racist or offensive comments, will result in having your account deleted.
DON’T Vote Trade
Earn the votes by working hard and improving your writing. If readers enjoy your works, they will vote. Vote trading is unfair to those who to not participate in such activity.
DON’T Pretend To Be Somebody Else
Please don’t register accounts in the name of another person, or using someone else’s logo (trademark), even if this is meant as a tribute. If you feel that someone is impersonating you on Wattpad, or is infringing your trademark, you can tell us about it by submitting a request on support.wattpad.com.
If You Break These Rules
Please take these rules seriously. Flag any inappropriate content you see. Inappropriate content will be removed along with any replies. Repeat offenders will have their accounts deleted. In most cases, we'll send you a warning before we take other measures. Remember, Wattpad is a fun and caring community where everyone feels comfortable and respected - it’s up to all of us to make sure this happens. We think this is fair but if you don't agree, maybe Wattpad is not the place for you.
