"Babies? You mean you don't know where babies come from?" Yuki bent forward towards Zero and poked at his forehead.

It was the winter season. Outside the dorms laid a thin atmosphere of cold, along with a sharp wind that nibbed at anyone's cheek. It was the safest bet to stay inside, at most. With nearly the entire student body out to stay with their familes, Zero and Yuki remained forever at the Headmaster's residence.

"What does it matter."

"Oh but it matters more than you think!" She spun around and cheerfuly tilted her head. "If you plan on‒"

"I don't plan on having children." Languidly, Zero kicked back his chair and walked towards the window. He placed his fingertips on one of its glass panels, easily sighing as the coldness surfed through his whole hand upon contact.

"Don't you open it...!" Yuki snatched the curtains around him and closed them behind his back.

Zero slowly exhaled, muffled by the curtains. "I'm gonna open it." He tenderly took a hold of both handles in his hands and gently pushed forward. In the middle of the day, a coldness as sharp as a dart surged through the room, sending the pots, pans, plants and chairs into a whirl before he shut the window. Yuki fell backwards.

"Baka!"

The white-haired guilt swung on his foot.

"Yuki-chan, are you all right?" He kneeled and extended his hand.

Fuming, she tightly crossed her arms, a glowering face hidden by falling bangs. She scowled at the wooden floor.

"I'm not talking to you." Yuki shot up from the ground, her back turned. "If Zero-kun doesn't want to listen to me," she strided towards the door, "then I don't have to listen to Zero-kun."

The door slammed shut.

-----

"So you're telling me... my Yuki-chan is angry? At you??"

Zero nodded as stood before Kain.

Fervently, the headmaster repeatedly pushed up his glasses. "Then you must've deserved it! My Yuki-chan would never be so upset; you terrible, terrible perso‒!"

"Are you going to cheer her up or what, weirdo?!"

Kain launched his arms up from his desk, anxiously waving them around in surrender. "Ah Zero-kun! Don't be so hasty...!" Proudly kneeling one foot on top of his desk, Kain brought a hopeful fist to his heart. "It is love that conquers everything, after all! The power of love will always‒"

A lonesome cricket sounded at the closing of the door. Zero had left, leaving Headmaster in a wave of tears.

-----

He was in the hallways outside; there was absolutely no sign of Yuki anywhere. Zero took a slow whiff of the thin air and stuck his hands in his pockets. The smell of dead leaves, dead grass, dead everything... wasn't such a dreadful aroma at all it seemed. With skin as white as his, he appeared to blend in easily with the surroundings.

"...Gah!.. Shoo... SHOO!!"

Zero instantly stopped his pace as his eyes shot open. The voice he heard was coming from inside the woods, way past the fountain on school concrete.

"Yuki," he breathed as he raced towards the trees.

-----

"Shoo... go away! This academy is not the safest place to be doing something like this!" Yuki hastily waved a rather long tree branch at the two dogs. They gave her a final look of indifference and continued to their natural law of instincts.

"Huh. So that's how babies are made."

Yuki's face immediately drooped below her neck. Her whole body twitched to the presence that was right behind her, who remained leaning against the trunk of a tree.

"Iie, Iie, Zero-kun!" Her hands defensively waved. "They're just dogs..." she quickly grabbed the hem of his sleeve and let out an anxious laugh. "Let's make sure not to mess with their business!"

I hope nobody minds that I put in phonetic Japanese words in here. I remember when I first started reading fanfiction (it was over Naruto, haha), I noticed that the author to a particular story I liked very much always incorporated Japanese words in the dialogue. At first I thought it was a little weird and annoying, but I began to look up the words every time and who knew I'd learn them unintentionally! It was only short words, after all. (ex: no/yes, wait, are you okay, really, what) I thought it was a great idea to do this too, since it's an anime, and language really adheres to personality! (After writing this chapter I found out that Zero and Yuki are really hard to write dialogues for)
