I go in for a kiss, and the passion rolls over us like a river stream. She pushes me onto the floor, and she's sat on top of me. She gives a smile and licks her lips, and in that moment, she dives onto me.
Flash Forward To Next Day
I wake up on the floor feeling out of breath, and more tired than ever. I look over to the right and I see Maze behind the bar, with her mask back on.
" You look like you need a drink." She says.
" I just woke up." I say.
" And?"
" What's wrong with you?" I say sarcastically.
" Question is, what's wrong with you?"
" A lot of things, what do you mean specifically?" I say as I laugh.
We both laugh and we're interrupted when lucifer walks in. He looks at me and Maze with not so much anger, more like discouragement.
" We're drinking now?" He asks.
" Hell yeah."
She passes him a shot across the table and he takes, and downs it, but when he shakes his head his throat burns with a firey yellow orange. It fades away and he looks at me, he looks at Maze and tilts his head, and she nods.
" Well Cole, looks like you're gonna go on your first mission."
" Wait what, I've only trained for like, a day."
" You don't usually need to fight more than not be suspicious and control your powers."
I create a light, steel ball about the size of my fist in my hand.
" Like that?' I ask.
" Pretty much, now once you get out of here, you will have a list of the escapees I need at the moment, and a compass to find them." He says.
" Alright."
He sticks his hand towards me and I'm blasted back faster than light and I can see the universe warping around me. The cold and dark ways of he'll transform into the business of streets and the bright lights of a city. I fly past the roads and into the hood of a car, causing the front of the car to cave in and me to flip into the air and over the vehicle.
" OH SHIT." I shout as I tunble through the air.
I slam into the concrete, and I look over at the one bystander that saw. He's tall, bald, black, and has an enormous charcoal beard and he looks homeless. He's definitely older, maybe forty, fifty at a push.
" Oh Lord in heaven." He says.
" Not exactly." I say in a grunt.
His jaw has dropped and his shoulders are raised to his ears.
" Do you know of any places to stay the night?" I ask.
" Are you the devil?" He asks as he shakes in his boots.
That wasn't my question.
" Nope, he's just my boss."
" You're a demon!" He shouts in fear.
" No... I just, I'm a human, and when I died, I started working for him. That's the short of it, now do you know of any places to to stay."
" Uh, uh, Under the bridge over there."
" Thanks dude." I say.
I walk onto the sidewalk where he's standing and begin to travel to the bridge. The man taps me on the shoulder and I turn to him. I then realize that he's slightly taller than me by about half an inch.
" What?" I say.
" Do you really work for the devil?" He asks.
" Yeah, I guess I do."
I look for a car to steal and find a really nice one, that's just ripe for the taking. I shatter the glass window with a self made hammer, and I unlock the door. It's a camaro, red and black with glossy finish. I open the glove box, and the keys are in it. I start it up and drive off towards the bridge, passing around other cars and drift off next to the homeless people. I step out and toss the keys to the one looking at me.
" It's yours. Go have fun." I say as I walk to a flaming barrel.
He speeds off and I take out my compass, and it's pointing towards him as he speeds off.
" Shit!"
I run off after it but it just goes off, and I'll have to track him down when he stops. I turn back to the other people and I smile.
" Do you know who that was?" I ask.
" Yeah, that was Josh, he's probably going to his girlfriend." He says.
He doesn't look like a homeless person, he wears an expensive looking leather jacket and a Gucci shirt. He's pale white and has receeding hair line.
" How did you know I was going after him?" I ask.
" You're not the only man who's died and come back to life." He says as he winks.
I look at my compass and it's pointing towards him, so I form a knife in my hand. But... I decide that, I'll let him go, for now, and I leave. I look at the compass and it's pointing straight forward, at a house not far from the bridge. Since there aren't any cars around it, I just jog. I pass a lot of people who just ignore me, except for one, a girl with dark blonde hair and big bags under her eyes. She stares at me as I run pass, and then, she pulls a gun on me and orders me to my knees and to put my hands on my head. I refuse to and she starts shouting at me.
" Get down on your knees." She screams.
" Lady, back off. I have to finish my job." I say as I materialize an enormous steel shield on my arm.
" Drop the shield now."
" Damn you're dumb."
I throw the shield at her and I sprint away into the house, and like the man said, he's there. The camaro is behind the house, and I take the man by the throat. And his girlfriend screams as I put the knife to his neck, and I apologize to both of them, and I kill him.
