Ch. 1 – The Boyfriend
“Shae. Shae! SHAE!” my best friend Kate yelled into my face. “You need to stop writing in your journal! Mr. Salter just gave us our assignment for today.”
“Uggg!” I slam my journal shut. “I was about to finish my last chapter of my romance story before I rudely interrupted thanks to you. Why am I in advanced algebra 2 again?” I say looking at the board for our assignment.
“Trust me it shocks all of us.” I stick my tongue out at her like a 5 year old. “So, whacha writing? The way of how the famous Liam Payne is going to fall you again?” she jokes
Yes. “No.” I glare at her dark brown eyes as she makes fun of my favorite band, One Direction. She thinks I’m obsessed, I’m not I am just very dedicated. I love their music I could listen to them all day and just stare at them all day too. Have you seen them? They are sexy! Ok I might be a little bit obsessed.
Also, is it so wrong for a 16 year old to dream of romance? I know what you’re thinking. I'm just asking for my heart to be broken. Well I know not to give my heart to just anyone, I’m smarter than that. My boyfriend had tried to get me to go out with him for 6 months until I said yes. I am truly in love with him.
I start my math homework while humming You and I by One Direction and Kate just rolled her eyes. That’s the thing about me and Kate’s relationship; I was the crazy, open-minded, head-up-in-the-clouds, dreaming of romance, and loving One Direction one in the relationship. While Kate would be the responsible, laid-back, realistic and loves to make fun of me one. She is the only one who keeps me grounded when I’m in my moods, that’s why she is my best friend.
Kate has long black hair with dark brown eyes. What she lacks in height she makes up for it in intelligence. We have been best friends since middle school. Since then she has taught me how to be more down to earth while I taught her have to be more spontaneous, we balance each other out if you ask me. She knows everything about me and I know everything about her.
“What are we humming there, Shae-Shae” my other friend Dalton came up behind me. He has blond hair with hazel-green eyes and a little bit taller than me with a lot of muscle. He is also one of the few smart football players in this small town and I really admire that about him.
“One Direction and why do you insist on calling me that? You know I hate that that name it makes me feel like I’m 5.” I say with a pout.
“Because you look like one.” He laughs and pointing at my lip. I mumble a few curse words and we all continue on working on our assignment together.
After math the rest of the day just blew by. I’m standing at my locker putting my homework and journal in my backpack when Kate walks up to me.
“Did you hear that Dan got into another fight?” in her strangely shocked voice.
“Shocker!” I laugh with some uncertainty in my voice as of why she would bring it up. Dan was the school’s jerk; and that is being nice. He is captain of our basketball team with Tom Cruise looks. He has slept with almost half of the girls in our school and if you can see his ego you would see it from space. Every girl tries to be the girl that changes his ways but none of them have they just ended up with a broken heart. Shockingly I’m the only one who isn’t head over heels with him and I don’t plan on being.
“What? It was the talk of the lunch table of the gossips.” She states in a matter-of-factly tone. “I’m surprised you haven’t fallen for him yet. He is just your type.” She smirks.
“What? Since when has a dumb jock with an ego bigger than the U.S my type?”
“Well you are going out with Alec.”
“Ha ha. You’re so funny.” my voice dripping with sarcasm. Right on cue Alec walks up and wraps his arms around me resting his chin on my shoulder.
“Talking about me again ladies?” he says over my shoulder and Kate just rolls her eyes. Kate doesn’t like Alec much. She claims him as a cheating football player that is also a heart-breaker, but he promised me that he has changed for me. Kate doesn’t believe him though.
“Yes we were just talking about big headed heartbreaking jerks.” Kate said with a smirk on her face.
“Kate.” I warn her.
“I’m going to leave, his big head is taking up too much room. Am I giving you a ride home?” she asks me
“Yep. Can you give me a minute?” she mumbled a sure and left to her car.
“Babe, Sam is having a party this tomorrow. Want to go?”
“Sure but I have to go to my sister’s recytle on Saturday so I’m going to have to be the D.D.”
“That’s fine. I’ll pick you up at 9:30 think you can sneak out?”
“Not a problem. My dad has a business meeting along with my mom and C.J is staying at a friend’s house”
“Awesome. Bye babe.” He kisses my cheek and leaves me.
