Chapter 1

"The Beginning"

It was late in the summer and it was time. Time to prepare for school for the first time ever in the Potter home. James was nothing short of excited for his first year at Hogwarts.

He busied himself the morning before he got some supplies needed for school. He tried not to think about it too much otherwise he would get over excited and possibly worry his parents.

James's parents were in their later years of life and just barely chugging along. James tried his best to not be such a busy child but sometimes he couldn't help it.

"Come on mother! Let's go!" exclaimed the youngest Potter very impatiently.

"You know it?s getting harder for me to get around James."

James sullenly stared down at his feet because he felt bad.

"Well let's go then." his mother said.

"Finally" James replied, "I thought u were going to take absolutely forever mother."

They made their way down to Diagon Alley to get school supplies and most importantly, a wand. James had been waiting for this day for quite a few years.

He rushed his mother along as best as he could so they could finally get to Ollivander's.

"What house do you want to be in James?" His mother inquired.

"Gryffindor why of course mother!" he exclaimed like she was crazy to suggest anything else.

They finally made it to Ollivander's to get James a wand. They walked in to see a very pale somewhat elderly man with the most peculiar silver eyes. they shined upon the sorrowful store like the moon shines upon a once frozen over lake.

"Looks as if you need a wand," said the man who turned out to be Garrick Ollivander.

"Yessir" James excitedly replied.

"Well let's get you one then."

They went through many different wands. They kinda felt right to James but not quite. Then Garrick Ollivander pulled out an 11 inch mahogany wand.

"Try this one on for size" directed Garrick.

James took it in his hand and tried it out. It felt like a perfect extension of him. He knew it was the one.

"Oh yes" said Garrick Ollivander cutting into James's thoughts, "That's a good pliable wand, good for transfiguration."

Mrs. Potter chuckled, "Oh i dont think James is going to be transfiguring any time soon."

James was studying the wand. It had a kind of cobweb looking inscription on it. He loved it.

"We'll take this one i suppose," said Mrs. Potter.

And soon after, they were onto the very busy streets of Diagon Alley again.

"Can we get some chocolate frogs mother?" James asked.

"I suppose that would be alright only if i can get a cauldron cake."

James laughed, "Of course you can!" he exclaimed.

James sat there with his chocolate frog as his mother downed a whole cauldron cake by herself

James loved chocolate frogs but what he loved most about them is the cards you get with them.

"I got a Beaumont Marjoribanks mother!"

"What did he do James?" She asked.

James flipped the card around to examine the back.

"It says here that he invented jillyweed."

"Do you mean gillywead?" She chuckled.

"Oh, yeah that. He invented that stuff."

After they had their treats, James with wand in hand, they quickly returned home.
