Lila's POV

No

No

No

A million thoughts rush through my head, but with each step forward I take three steps back. There is no way Beth would say that. I've known her for 12 years, she's not that kind of person.

"And how do I know you're not just trying to make me mad?" I ask, hoping, needing Louis to just be goofing off. He shakes his head and sighs,

"Do you really want to know?"

"Of course I want to know! What kind of question is that?" I cry. His eyes widen and he pulls out his phone and presses play on a video.

Beth is seated in a circle and all eyes are on her. She pushes her short curly hair behind her ear and sighs.

"Do you really want to know?" She asks, a wicked gleam in her eyes.

"YES" everyone surrounding her shouts.

"Okay, here's the deal, Lila has been my best friend since like, I don't know, Kindergarten? But oh my god, you guys don't know her like I do. She's fake and self absorbed and goes around pretending to be gods gift to humanity, and I'm so tired of it. She's so annoying and I just... ugh, no one can see it because you are all under her spell." She rolls her eyes and takes a sip of her drink. The video clicks off.

"Wh-when was that?" I ask, tears pooling in my eyes. Louis glances at me and hesitantly replies,

"two days ago." My heart drops, and I whisper,"T-thank you for letting me know. I appreciate it" I give Louis a weak smile and walk off to my first class before the bell rings.

My first class is Front desk assistant so I have 45 minutes to think about the video. I can't believe it.

Beth has never said anything like that to me and I'm unsure how I'm supposed to react. Do I break off our friendship? But I've known her since kindergarten and we've always been super close- losing her would be like losing a sister.

Do I tell her I know she said that? But then our relationship would be tense and uncomfortable.

The best thing is to just let it go, but it hurts so bad. She knows everything about me, and as sad as it sounds, I don't know if I'd be able to survive without her. I decide to just ignore it and treat her like normal. It creates less conflict and no one wants to hear about our problems anyways. The bell rings and I shake myself out of my daze and start to pack up my backpack.

My stomach is churning as I approach my usual seat at the "popular table". I've never understood why I have a seat here with the beautiful cheerleaders and hot jocks.

I'm not anything special, but somehow Beth and I managed to sit at the best table available. Oh my god. Beth. She's sitting in her spot and beckons me over with a blank face.

"hey" I mumble, worried she's mad at me. "What?" Beth demands impatiently.

"I just- I said hello!" I stutter with a smile on my face. Better to let her think I'm not breaking inside because of what she said... not that she'd be of much emotional assistance.

"Oh-Hi? I'm texting Connor so don't bother me unless it's important." She says, and I know she means, don't talk to me I don't want to listen to you right now. So I weakly smile, nod my head, and eat my lunch quietly.

After what feels like the longest day ever, the last bell finally rings and I pop up out of my seat. As I walk out to my baby blue Honda, Beth jogs towards me and starts talking.

"Oh my god, L I have so much to do and I'm so stressed, can you do me a HUGE favor?" I laugh and ask

"Whaddya need B?" She looks at her phone and replies while texting, "so, I heard there's a hottie at the flower shop down the street, check him out for me. 'Kay?" I mumble an okay and she perks up.

"I've gotta go so just drop them off at my house when you get them, thanks L!" And with that she runs off to Connor, her boyfriend. They spend an ungodly amount of time bundled together and then hop into his car and speed away.

I take a huge breath and start driving. I was going to go home and sleep before my dance class, but if Beth needs it I should get it for her. It's only right. I pull into a small parking space and think for a second. I'm still upset with Beth and I don't want to check this poor guy out, but then again he's supposedly hot and I may be a pushover but that doesn't mean I can't sneak a peek.

Sooooo I've never written a story like this before so don't judge too hard. I know that right now Lila may seem really annoying, but she's supposed to be a broken hearted girl who doesn't want to cause a scene.

Let's talk about Beth though... why is she saying that about Lila? And what is Lila's plan?

Updates will vary depending on if I have WiFi (cause my summer is crazy right now) also I'm not perfect and i sometimes can't English, pls don't hurt me because I can't spell or use grammar occasionally.
