Family

Bertholdt was sitting next to Reiner, muscles tense and eyes cast downwards. He can't look at any of them knowing he was going to be the reason that they and their families would die. While Eren was talking about when his mother died and about Mikasa then about his father.

He was nervous when they talked about, but then calmed down. Reiner chuckled. 

"Okay, so my mom and dad had been together for a long time, and they are still completely in love with each other, I'm the oldest of ten kids...six little sisters and three little brothers. They would always follow me if they were puppies! I had never had a moment alone back at home, never complain about it or anything, I loved them. They all made it out alive when the Titans came, thankfully. All of them are living in a small village." said Reiner, as she smiled. 

They looked at him and smiled, they were happy that his family had survived from something bad. In the corner of his eyes, Bertholdt could see Reiner's hand feeling his pocket, the pocket where he had photos of the Braun family. He could tell that Reiner does miss his family. Thinking of Reiner's family made him think about home and his family. 

"Bertholdt...? Bertholdt!"

He jumped and looked to lock eyes with Jean, and with everybody else. They were watching him expectantly. 

"Oh....s-sorry I was spaced out a bit...anything you want...?" he asked, scratched the back of his head in embarrassment. 

"We wanted to know about your family," said Jean. 

"Oh...u-uhh..."

"Guys, Bert's got a really complicated home life, let's just pass it please," said Reiner. 

"No! It's fine! So...my family....my father died when I was 10 years. One of the old....abandoned barns and had caught on...fir while there were still children playing inside....he had burned to death....saving three kids....and with my father gone and my mother not having a job....we didn't have any way to get money...my family was already poor as it was....but it only got much worse....my mother fell into depression after my dad....passed away...she never did anything....only stared....at nothing.....no matter how many times I tried to talked.....how I yelled in her face.....nothing happened at all....I did have a little sister...Melody....she is fragile...gentle...she starts to cry at the sight of a single speck of blood...she's maybe the kindest..and most forgiving person ever.....I only joined the military to protect her....and then....my mom finally starting to be normal.....and that I was learning how to hun but the Titans ruined everything....they both made it.....they're with Reiners family...at the moment so yeah....that's my family..." Bertholdt said, yawning. 

"It's getting late so....I'm going to bed...goodnight guys," Bertholdt said, getting up and walking away.
