Setting: Start in a small apartment there is a living room only has the light on it. Michael's bedroom, is darkened, but you can still see what he is doing.
Act I Scene 1
The right side of the stage with the living room only has the light on it. Michael's bedroom is darkened, but you can still see what he is doing.
(Kevin is sitting on the couch watching TV and taking a drink of beer)
Kevin
God, where is that little twerp?
(The lights slowly come up on Michael's bedroom)
Michael is breathing really really fast and sitting in front of his door trying not to make a sound. The last time he made sound, he got beat badly and still has the bruises from 2 weeks ago.
Kevin
Michael, get out of here and get me a another beer and a light.
At first Michael doesn't respond, but then he slowly gets up and backs away from the door.
Michael
Coming!
Michael quickly opens the door sprints to the fridge gets the beer and then passes the counter for the lighter. Michael then quickly slows down to a walk right behind the couch before his dad can see him.
Michael
Here you are sir, is there anything else?
Kevin
No, now get lost, your standing in my way!
Michael quickly walks back to his bedroom and shuts the door.
On stage right with the couch goes blank and the bedroom to sit down on the floor, but before he grabs a pencil and a piece of homework. He flips it over and begins to draw to the back.
Act I Scene 2
There is a classroom, set up with 3 rows of desks and all of them are filled except for 1. That one spot is Michaels. Mr.Brown is talking attendance and calls Michaels name.
Mr.Brown
Michael... (under his breath) not in class again?
Mr.Brown countinues to take attendance. There was this know it all kid who always asked questions. Her name was summer, she was a teachers pet.
Summer
Excuse me, Mr.Brown, where has Michael been?
Mr.Brown
I have the same exact question.
Mr.Brown walks over to the phone to call the office and all of a sudden Michael comes flying in with a big bruise on his right eye.
Mr.Brown
Mr.Stahlk, where have you been for the past 2 weeks?
Michael doesn't respond and quickly goes to his seat. Then they begin class. Michael pulls out his pencil and a new sheet of paper and begins to draw. Bobby is the class bully and sit right behind Michael. Bobby stands up, leans over his desk and flicks the back of Michaels head.
Mr.Brown
Bobby Binder, sit down?
Bobby
Sorry sir, he just had something on the back of his head.
Mr.Brown continued to teach the class while Michael continued drawing. Bobby always messed with everyone, but he always seemed to mess with Michael the most.
