I don't actually experience this but if I ever become a parent and my child is to come out to me, perhaps this is what I would do, telling them to think of yourself instead of letting others think for you. it's like, I don't mind if any of my children ever to come out because I have come to several scenes of parents disowning their children just because of their sexuality. I mean, their sexual orientation doesn't equal to your failure as a parent, you failed as a parent because you just don't trust them anymore after outed themselves.
before I actually get too much, let's get into this one-shot trivia;
#those behinds.
-the first and second draft of this one-shot was for a ship in my fandom
-darryl supposed to has a mentioned cousin who was the one he talked as well about his sexuality other than his parents. the cousin was into philosophy so that affected darryl's daily speech as well because he adored his cousin's philosophies.
-instead of gay, I wanted to portray darryl's character as pansexual but I needed more than one-shots and more months to plot this so I changed my mind
-george said something about confirming his sexuality at the age of sixteen because at thirteen, he was convinced by his parents into thinking it was just a phase.
- a behind story, george's relationship ended in a way he can't accept because the said ex cut their almost two-year relationship through text. but considering the ex tried to avoid talking about their past whenever they got to greet each other because george's cousin (tay brown) was close friend to his ex, george tried to move on by himself.#some scenes were supposed to be included
-the mother supposed to be pansexual if darryl was to be gay, and george's uncle's brother was a non-binary person (refer to as they/them), the one she had a quite stable relationship with until they refused to marry her.
-the father remained straight and darryl asked his father how can he be so, so the father supposed to say things like, "you don't have to be inside the community to support them"
-george would ask about their religion and darryl supposed to explain about his parents' decision to stop being a christian before changing to atheist because of their former religion against the idea of lgbtq+
-that one scene where darryl outed himself to his mother and the mother would say things like I did in my first note,
"your sexual orientation is not supposed to be the reason for me to disown you, you remain my son,"
