"Taehyung, please stay for a little while."
Jimin frowns the moment these words left Yoongi's lips. Who's Taehyung?
As Jimin makes his way to the front of class, he sees a blond-haired boy walking down the steps from across the room as well. He has a decent fashion sense, somewhat similar to Jimin's — blue jeans and a black shirt peeking from under a black bomber. Jimin takes note of a silver pendant hanging off of his neck, the chain swaying as the boy hastily descends the stairs.
Jimin tries not to stare at Yoongi, who seems unaware of the shy boy's curious glances. He beckons to Taehyung to stand closer as the boy comes to halt before the teacher's table.
"Jimin, you've taken English in high school, right?" Yoongi says, his gaze focused on a file in his hands, which Jimin assumes to be his application.
"Yes, sir," the pink-haired boy replies, shifting uncomfortably as he notices Taehyung grinning at him cheekily.
Why's he grinning at me like that? Jimin wonders, his cheeks quickly heating up.
"Your English grade wasn't too bad," Yoongi mutters as he snaps the file shut, instantly looking up to stare at Jimin. "You've never taken Literature before?"
"Uh, I kind of did..." Jimin scratches the back of his neck as he tries to recall the Literature module his English teacher introduced back in high school. He'd tried out for a few months before deciding he just wasn't cut out for it. He continues, "I took up the subject for only about a term before I dropped it."
Yoongi purses his lips in concentration, his hand reaching up to pinch the bridge of his nose.
There he goes again, Jimin thinks, a discreet smile spreading across his face.
"Right," Yoongi mumbles absentmindedly. "Can you tell me what you know about the subject? Or what you've learnt about it when you took it up in high school?"
Crap. Why didn't I pay attention then? Jimin wants to run out of the lecture hall this very instant. Fiddling with his thumbs, he struggles to recall any content he remembers from those brief three months of his high school life. Come on Jimin, think!
He fails.
That is, until a low voice cuts the silence.
"Mr Min, I think Jimin needs some time to consolidate his thoughts."
Jimin snaps his head up to stare at Taehyung, who is now leaning against the table with a hand in his pant pocket, a smug smile on his face.
Jimin wants to cry.
"Taehyung, I can't gauge my student's ability if he doesn't tell me what he knows about the subject," Yoongi states carefully, his voice dripping with tiredness. "It's alright, take your time to think."
"Um, I- I know about... uh, Pride and Prejudice and um, Jane Eyre?" Jimin manages to croak out, his brain running at hundred miles per hour. He feels sweat starting to collect on his forehead, and he prays that Yoongi won't follow up with another question.
"Can you tell me what Pride and Prejudice is to you?"
Oh shit.
"Um, it's about a girl called... uh, Elizabeth! Oh, um, it starts off with her parents discussing about a man called... a man called, um..." Jimin rambles, his mouth running as his brain screams for him to stop and to just think.
