It's supposed to be quiet.
But there's always noise
Whispers from across the room
Pages turning, zips being pulled
The tapping of a keyboard
Pens rattling, chairs knocking tables
The radiator humming it's simple song
Sometimes, the printer starts
Right now, I can hear water,
The radiator (again)
I hear the shuffling of people
As they move in their chairs
Steps echo round as people search
For that one book they want
Occasionally the door will open
And another person will join the fray.
