Ma'Lia Andrews POV
The screams are what caught my attention. At the sound of them I looked around to find a gun man with a gun pointed at him. He wasn't crying, he wasn't begging for the man to let him continue to live, he just stared right back at the gunman. His gaze drifted away and his eyes met mine for a split second. His expression seemed to falter and he gave me a head nod. A head nod to assure me that everything was going to be okay. I shook my head as tears streamed down my face. Everything was not going to be okay this wasn't suppose to happen. Not now, not ever. Today was supposed to be a special day for me and for everyone. I can not remember today this way. I refuse too. I felt a arm tug on my shirt as if to warn me not to go any closer. They knew what I was thinking. But it was too late, I broke loose and ran toward him screaming. He was not going too die. He couldn't. After everything that happened this was not a goodbye. "Ma'Lia no!" Someone yelled. I turned my head for a slight moment before the explosion of a bullet leaving a gun sounded the air.
I woke up with a start and realized that I was shaking. I've been having this dream for quite some time now and I always woke the same way-shaking with tears coming from my eyes.
As on cue, I felt the familiar wetness on my face. I wiped them away and started to think harder about this dream. This couldn't be just a dream, it had to be something more because having this dream for a third time is crazy.
The person who had the gun pointed at him had to be someone I know. It was just something about him that my dream self knew even though I didn't recognize him. I ran towards him and put myself in danger. That was strange because the only male I would do it for would be my brother, DeShaun, and that wasn't him. So who could it be?
The more I thought about it, the more the dream would fade away. I just don't know why I keep having the dream and it bothers me. I heard a door close downstairs and I looked towards my window. It was still dark, but it was getting lighter though.
I turned on my phone to check the time. Notifications popped up on the screen, all from Facebook, messenger, Instagram, Snapchat, Twitter, and a few missed FaceTime calls and texts from iMessage. I cleared them away and looked towards the top to read the time.
I turned off my phone and followed the noise throughout the house, eventually stumbling upon my mom putting things in her purse.
"Hey mommy, why are you up so early?" I asked her. She mumbled something still shifting through things. After a minute she looked up.
"I'm sorry Ma'Lia. I'm going to work a earlier today so I can finish a little more of my diary. These things keep piling up and I have a deadline due Monday. I might be staying late, I don't know, I'll call and let you know this afternoon." She said going to the kitchen.
I followed her, "Okay ma. I'll keep things straight on this end." She smiled and nodded her head in appreciation. We sat in silence for a moment before she asked me what I was doing up.
"No apparent reason. I'm a light sleeper and I heard you down here moving around so I decided to come down here and check it out." I wasn't going to tell her about the dream I had. It's probably nothing and I don't want her to have to worry about anything extra.
She poured her coffee into her cup and grabbed her papers and purse from the island. Kissing my cheek, she told me to have a good day and pass her love to my sister. I walked her to the front giving her another hug and locking the door behind her as she left.
