"Okay," I mumbled half to myself, and half to the Agents in my room, watching me with mild interest. "I think we're ready to go." I collapsed on the bed beside Scout and Luna, who had curled up on the covers. Scout rested his big head on my stomach, letting out a huff through his nose. My fingers played with his thick, gray fur, and the lynx let out a heavy purr.
Luna decided she wanted attention, too, and plopped down at the base of my neck, placing her paws on my face.
I laughed, using my other available hand to pet Luna, and I let my mind drift.
Did Satin have this kind of relationship with his Agent? Blue Chain? Were they ever close? Where was he now that his Chromian had abandoned him?
Both feline heads perked towards the door and I squinted, seeing the door crack open and a nose poke through.
Two eyes showed themselves. "Indigo?"
"Blue...?" I stared at the dog that had seemed to read my thoughts and come on command. How did that work? Did Iris just send them when we needed them? I would have to research that later.
"We are leaving soon, right?" BC asked, cocking his head to the side. "I wasn't sure if you planned on taking your other Agents or not..." His voice trailed off awkwardly. I felt a pang of sympathy for the dog... Satin must have not taken him anywhere. He was afraid of being left here alone.
"Of course you're coming," I said. I picked Luna off of me and placed her to the side, clearing myself of cats. "We'll be leaving shortly."
Luna padded over to the blue dog and pressed her nose to his. "Hi! We're best friends now."
BC seemed to smile, wagging his tail. "I would enjoy that."
I smiled, seeing the two had already gotten acquainted, and grabbed my bag. "Alright, follow me out."
I exited my room, switching off the light and listening for the padding of paws behind me. We headed towards the main lobby, which was crowded with people, whether they be Chromians joining the campaign trip or those saying their goodbyes. A few people kept their Agents close.
I heard a familiar voice, turning to see who it was. Violet, my sister. I hadn't really spoken with her since the battle, and I kind of wished I did. She was speaking with a boy who had tan skin, wild lime green hair, and whose face seemed to be sparkling with the same color. What were those... scales?
I heard the tail-end of a conversation-- "I'll miss you, Lime"-- and automatically went into panic mode. How old was Violet?? Last I remembered- when we left New York the first time- she was only thirteen!
"Violet, who is that?" I asked, gesturing to the boy she'd just hugged.
Without a drop of remorse, she sang, "My boyfriend! Lime!"
"Your... what? How old are you now?"
"I dunno," Violet said, shrugging. "What's wrong with you?"
"You just never told me about him." I studied the boy curiously, squinting in hopes to discover a very obvious flaw.
"To be fair, you don't tell me a lot of things," Violet snapped. "When you start talking to me like a sister again, I'll do the same."
I opened my mouth to respond, but there wasn't anything to say. She was right. Between dealing with Scarlett's disappearance, hanging out with my other friends, and my... boy drama... I had kind of abandoned my sister in the process. And it seemed she had no trouble replacing me at all.
