Darah awoke with a loud gasp. She looked around frantically for the monster that had been chasing her throughout her dreams. With a sigh, Darah wiped the sweat from her brow and got up from her bed, sliding on her black, fuzzy slippers onto her feet. She walked out of her bedroom and into her bathroom. She looked into the mirror and chuckled softly at her messy black hair, her bangs were almost sticking straight up on the left side. She heard a loud shout come from right beside her. Startled, she screamed and jumped, her clumsy feet slipping on the rug she was standing on and falling onto her rear with a hard thump. Her phone flew from out if its place in her pajama pants pocket and skid across the floor. The death metal music ringtone now echoing louder than before. Darah rolled her eyes and picked it up, pressing the answer button.
"What?" she said with a groan as she got up from the floor.
"Hey there sleepy head! What's up?" replied the cheery voice of her friend, Gwen.
"Nothing really. I was probably just going to make myself breakfast. Maybe watch TV for the rest of the day. I'm feeling the the stereotypical lazy teenager today. Why?" Darah said, already knowing that Gwen's plot was to drag her from her house.
"Well, I was wondering if you wanted to come to the mall with me and Angel. We're going to meet my new bo and he said he was going to invite two of his guy friends to come along so I figured I would invite two of my girl friends. It'll be like a triple date!"
Just as Darah suspected, it was another ploy to get her to date someone. Gwen had it in her head that Darah was "emo" because she was single. Darah didn't consider her self "emo" she was just a little misunderstood goth girl. She just wanted to listen to death metal, collect skulls, and write poetry. Not date some bratty teenage boy.
"I'm guessing you're not exactly giving me a choice in the matter," Darah sighed.
"Psh, I don't know what you're talking about," replied Gwen with a playful attitude.
"Whatever, I'll meet you guys in the mall near the fountain," Darah said with a soft groan of regret.
Gwen squealed "bye" and hung up. Darah groaned and shut the bathroom door. She took a long hot shower, lined her eyed with black eyeliner and mascara, straightened her hair, and put on her favorite pair of black skinny jeans and her favorite baggy, black sweater. She trudged down the stairs, slid into her bulky black boots, grabbed her keys, and went out the door.
Darah crawled into the driver's seat and started the engine. Shifting into reverse and slamming her foot onto the accelerator she maneuvered the car out of the driveway and headed into town. When she finally go to the mall and parked she got out of her vehicle and the weirdest feeling washed over her. Something wasn't right, she wasn't exactly sure what it was, but something was off. A cold breeze passed, Darah shivered and made her way into the mall. She saw her destination ahead, the fountain. At first she didn't see her friends in front of it, but as some other people passed they seemed to appear out of nowhere in front of the fountain. Darah blinked and yawned, maybe she was still tired. Gwen came charging towards Darah, throwing her arms around her. Angel, Darah's other friend, soon appeared at her side and hugged her as well. Darah smiled softly. They had all been friends since they were very young. It was actually a shock to Darah that they have all actually remained friends for so long. Gwen was a little taller than Darah was, and had short, light brown hair and brown eyes. She had pale skin, but not as pale as Darah. She was almost always seen wearing band tee shirts of the different metal bands she listened to. Angel was the tallest of the friends and was extremely sporty. She was very tan and had light blonde hair with blue eyes. She wasn't as into the "rock scene" as the other two, but was definitely a fellow music lover. Gwen and Angel started walking Darah towards a trio of boys.
