It was a cloudy day on September. For the first time in the school's history, a love story like this was happening. Frances, the girl who has short brown hair and a reoccurring bedhead was stepping out of her school bus and starting her first day of 10th grade. On the other hand, there was a boy named Toki who was starting his first day of 9th grade. Soon, the universe will bring these two together. But until then, they were just two kids who had their own issues and homework to do.
Toki was nervous as he stepped on the school hall for the first time in his life. In fact, he has never been more confused by such a traffic. Other students, who he assumed was also new students, were running towards him, almost as if they wanted to punish his shoulders for something he has done. He looked down at his schedule for this year, "Not bad" he thought. He thought wrong. As soon as the school will start, he'll realize that class 8 is pretty far away from class 12, and it is kind of a pain in the ass to run there just after you finish a 40 minute lesson. He looked around for someone to ask where his first class is, but everyone who knows were too busy talking to their friends they haven't seen in 3 months. Except one girl who was at the end of the corridor, looking at her phone. Toki thought of approaching her, but gave up quickly afterwards. She didn't seem like she would like to be approached. "She is untraditionally beautiful", Toki thought. That's another reason why he wouldn't even walk beside her. He was too insecure even for a 14 year old. He has never asked a girl out, let alone think about it. He did have a crush on a girl in kindergarten though. Her name was Natalie and she was a Jewish-British who had short hair and a big teeth gap. Natalie comes up to his mind only when Toki sees love stories on movies and TV shows because that's what the associates love with. Until now.
When Toki found where his first class is, he realized they were going to have one of those 'meet and greet' kind of lesson. He sat down somewhere close to the windows. He looked around a bit and compared kids in his class to the girl he saw in the hall with them to make an assumption about her age. She was probably 15 going on 16, and Toki reminded himself that he believes he has no chance with her. "What's your name dear?" he heard the voice of a woman and he separated himself with his thoughts. "I'm sorry ma'm, was that for me?" Toki said. "Yes darling, are you ok?". "Yeah, it's just, you know it's the first day and this school is too big and I'm already sick of it. I mean I don't mean it that way. It's just-" Toki looked at his right and realized everyone was staring at him, doubting his intelligence level.
"My name is Toki. I was born in Manchester and raised in Liverpool. I'm an only child. My parents are engineers. I play football and I can understand French. I speak it like I'm at a gun-point, but when I pretend I am Kermit The Frog, I sound okay. That's all I guess."
"Wow, what a weirdo." He heard the voice of a grumpy adolescent boy as soon as he finished, and realized this whole thing is not going to be much different from middle school after all. During three years of middle school, Toki experienced bullying in all types of google-able kinds from physical bullying to getting your name used on a Wattpad fanfiction story about Harry Styles by the girls in your class. The worst one was definitely cyberbullying, when his classmates found out about his obsession with Pokemon from his Facebook page. He would share posts impersonating Ash and go to school wearing an embarrassing red cap. Although the reason why William from 8th grade hacked his profile wasn't because he was a massive nerd. William was just jealous because he realized he wasn't the biggest Pokemon fan at school anymore. Poor William went as far to make posts from Toki's profile including Pokemon references like "I am the very worst!", or "Gotta be the biggest loser of all!"
