you just couldn't wrap your mind around the fact that you used to be engaged to satan; the man that you used to love, the man that held you every night—you couldn't believe that he of all people would go so far.

no actually you could believe it, and that sucked worse than anything. you always tried to see the best in people—but namjoon, you had to search real damn hard to find the goodness in that man and you can't help but wonder how you ever let him fool you into falling for him to begin with.

walking down the busy streets and blending into the colorful sea of bodies, you try to wrap your head around things, trying to get that malicious voice out of your ears.

"he just likes to hear himself talk..I'm nothing like him," stepping down onto the cross walk, you shake your head.

you didn't have time for this, you had a small date with jin today and you didn't need this type of pressure on your shoulders.

beep-beep-beeeeeeep.

flinching, your eyes shoot up to the car in front of you and you immediately bow to apologize for not watching where you were going.

you aren't a cheater. you loved seokjin, end of story.

"not to say that I don't love jimin, of course I do, but like as a friend...I love everyone like a friend which is one hundred percent normal, except jin who's my boyfriend," you mumble as you stop walking, scrunching your nose. you figured talking to yourself would help clear your head.

beeep. "who's your boyfriend?"

"gah—I'm sorry I didn't realize I was still in the...hoseok!" eyes widen as you turn to see hoseok in a drop top convertible; he tilts his head as you stood in the middle of the road with sightly pouted lips and a puzzled expression.

after a second cars begin to honk behind the two of you.

"why don't you hop in before you end up getting ran over by a car that cares more about running the red lights than running over you."

nodding frantically you rush to the passenger's door and buckle in, as you knew that your eye to road coordination was getting worse by the second...but then again you never were good at multitasking.

"has the airhead come to visit? because you looked real ditzy out there," low voice fading into the lofi hiphop that was beating from his aux, hoseok pushing on the gas and drives, causing the wind to blow on your face.

"no I was...lost in thought."

somewhat serious, hoseok's tone was more authoritative, ofcourse it came from a place of concern for your safety."well try not to get lost in the roads yeah? "

"yeah."

"good, now what were you mumbling about...said something about boyfriend?"

damn it, he caught that.

"uhm I was talking about a client, the guy that I'm meeting up with soon—sometimes I just like to rehearse my part a bit y'know? with so many clients I'm afraid that one day Im going to just screw everyones names up and blow the entire dating illusion."

"relatable, the worst nightmare a rentable will ever have is messing up a clients name—I remember one time I was so tired and I had to meet someone for a date—like an actual date, and she was so cute but when I opened my mouth I just kept calling her bora."

"what was her real name?"

"gowon...she was gorgeous but ugh I don't wanna talk about it anymore, the embarrassment still haunts me to this day."

switching lanes, hoseok glances into his rear view before looking out to the blurred buildings that he was passing up.

"y'know if yoongi was here he'd be in the backseat cackling over that story right now
—he never let's things go I swear."

silence.

not mentally weren't prepared for the amount of bitterness sprinkled in hobi's voice at the mention of his friend, you bite on your thumb.

"you miss him?"

"...yeah. I know I should be proud of him and everything but I'm not good at letting go of my childhood...and yoongi was a big part of that."

yeah a year changes a lot of things.

nodding, you place a hand on hoseok's thigh and give a understanding glance."do you mind if I turn the radio back up for a bit? I kinda want to think some more..."

nodding in approval as he now seemed to have his own thoughts to tend to; your 90's partner gives you access to his dashboard and let's you lean over to twist the radio's dial until the music takes over the air and you could think without listening to the distractions of the rest of the world.

at the end of the day jin was your boyfriend and that was that, and you weren't going to waste your time chasing the idea that you could possibly like someone else. like you said—if this last one does work out then you're done dating, so you have to pick wisely.

besides even if you did like jimin, he was more of the nomadic, rather not be held back type—y'know, poetic freedom and all.

right?

...right?
