Sonakshi POV
I laid on the bed with a coffee in my hand and switched on the TV. Dev had gone to Mumbai for a business related meeting three weeks earlier and was not going to return until two days later. Maa and Nikki had gone out for the night and weren't going to return until tomorrow. They had decided to stay with maa's sister for the night. Mama, mami and Vicky, too had to their relatives. Elena, Suhana and Golu were at the movies and were going to go the Bose house for the night. I was left alone in the house. Maa had asked me to come with them but I politely declined.
"Nahi maa, aap sab jao, main akeli rehti hu ghar pe... Aaj mera mood nahi hai," I said.
"Thik hai beta... Tumhari tabiyat thik hai na?," she asked with motherly concern.
"Haan maa, main thik hu... Don't worry, aap dono enjoy karo," I replied.
"Looks like someone is missing someone," Nikki said, nudging me.
"Nahi Nikki, aisa kuch nahi hai," I said, blushing. Both of them started laughing. They left the house, after mouthing a quick goodbye.
I was clearly missing Dev, a lot. We hadn't talked for a few days and that's what made me miss him more. Even though I thought couldn't stay without him for a long time, I still managed to stay without him for 18 days, 10 hours and 42 minutes, counting the times I sit, staring at his pictures for long and talking with them. I didn't like staying at home, alone but I also didn't want to go out anywhere. I decided to binge watch my favourite serial today because I had nothing else to do. I completed surveying my files about two hours ago.
I was watching Supernatural and was on the 10th episode when I heard a noise, coming from downstairs. I thought that the noise came from the serial and ignored it.
***********************
It was already 1 o'clock in the night and I had completed watching two seasons of the series. I decided to go to sleep. I stepped down from the bed and moved towards the kitchen with the coffee cup in my hand. I had drunk almost five cups of coffee and a full tub of ice-cream from the time I started watching the Supernatural series. Me, the great nutritionist, Dr. Sonakshi Dixit, had drunk five cups of coffee in the last 6 hours. I hadn't even eaten my dinner but I was not hungry anymore.
'If Dev would have been here, he would leave no chance to tease me' I thought. It was true. I was the one to tell him once not to drink coffee so much and I was drinking it myself.
I switched on the light of the kitchen and kept the mug in the sink. I threw the ice-cream tub, which I kept on the island earlier, in the dustbin. I started moving towards the room. It was then, I felt a shadow, moving outside the window. I quickly averted my eyes to the window and saw vase, fallen down from its original place.
Fear engulfed me. I moved towards the vase, picked it up and clutched it in my hand.
"Darwaza aur khidkiya khuli hai... Hawa ke wajese gira hoga," my mind told me.
I was a bit relieved and closed the door and windows and went back to the room. I decided to sleep even though I didn't want to. I didn't have a good amount of sleep for the past three weeks. Living with Dev for a long time, I couldn't sleep without his hand on my waist. We talked for hours together at night. I laid on the bed, again and closed my eyes.
Suddenly, the light went out. I opened my eyes with a start. I hadn't closed the lamps beside the bed because I was always scared of the dark because of dada and Elena. They scared me everytime the lights went out, when we were kids but my fear of darkness didn't stop me from watching horror serials. When Dev slept with me, I used to not be so scared because I had someone with me and that someone being Dev, my fear used to just run away.
