Balancing Acts

'We're here, and now you have to come back with us,'

I shot up from bed. The Howls had awoken Leila, who was now sobbing relentlessly. I lifted her up in my arms and ran out of the room, not taking the time to unlock the door and instead breaking it down. Logan began shouting out orders and the Pack Fighters were in motion. I put Leila down in the Safe House, and ran outside. Mothers were hurrying their crying children. Luna mode kicked in and I helped everyone get into the Safe House with Logan. I felt deadly and I was seeing red at the thought of anyone harming our Pack. 'You said our Pack,' Rae said within me, feeling an upsurge of joy that I also felt because I'd accepted my position as Luna. She'd always thought I wouldn't. 'Rae, I would never do such a thing as reject my position and my Pack. It's my duty to do this. I'm a Luna and Lunas are the life and blood of the Pack. They'd fall without one. I can't bring that upon them,' I replied. After that, Logan and I followed our senses which lead us to Alpha Marcus and Luna Cassidy, who stood strongly with about twenty Fighters behind them.

Cassidy was the first to speak. 'Chelsea, come back with us. You defied us by killing our Beta and his Mate. You must return and face the severe consequences of your heinous actions,' she said. I remained calm and collected. 'Cassidy-'

'YOU WILL SHOW RESPECT TO YOUR LUNA!' Marcus roared, cutting me off. 'Learn your place, pup.'

I simply laughed, which he seemed to take as further defiance. 'It is not your place to say that to me. I am now a Luna, and you will treat me as your equal. The title isn't necessary for me anymore.'

'You are not a Luna. You belong to Blue Moon,' Cassidy said in an equally collected voice.

'You are defying my position on my land. You are outnumbered. Back down before you get hurt. I do not want to bring a war upon you, but I shall if you continue this.' I spoke, lacing my words with power and authority. Logan and Marcus stood back quietly and watched us as we continued our verbal battle.

'Chelsea, you ran away like a coward after killing the Beta's family. Jared now has to take over at such a young age- he's fifteen! You belong to Blue Moon. We're here, and now you have to come back with us,' Cassidy spoke.

Usually, my Wolf would've bowed down to the title card that Cassidy was pulling, but not anymore. Both of us simply felt rage. I let Rae take control. My eyes glowed Silver and my canines and claws lengthened as I put Cassidy in her place. 'You do not order me around. My allegiance no longer lies with you, pup. My loyalty now lies with my Pack, and as Luna, I will do everything within my power and more to protect it. You come here, onto my land, and defy me with such ignorance and stupidity, bringing along with you such few Fighters when my whole army of well trained men are here and willing to fight. You must learn your place. I will not accept this act of defiance. As Luna, I command you to leave my land in peace and retreat. My men will escort you out safely, and you can return to your homes in peace. Should you defy my order you bring a war upon yourself,' Rae said, with even more power as she enforced her title upon them. My plight had apparently fallen upon deaf ears as growls came from Blue Moon. I had another thing to say. 'I, Chelsea Morgan, sever any and all ties with Blue Moon Pack and state my firm allegiance and loyalty with Shadow Moon Pack as Luna.' I spoke, and I felt the bond sever with any Blue Moon members.

Cassidy and Marcus left soon after. I was glad they did. Logan had my hand in his as we walked to get Leila back and go home. 'You handled that really well, Chelsea. I actually flinched from the tone of your voice and so did the Fighters,' he told me. I smiled. 'Aw, did I make the big bad Alpha scared?' I teased. Logan grinned, elongating his canines and claws playfully when I'd pulled away. 'Wanna race?' I asked.

'Ok. I'll see you at the house!' He yelled as he ran away from me. He was fast, but I was faster. Following the scent of us when we'd walked away to the confrontation, I sprinted with all I had, and managed to beat him there by five minutes. I'd barely broken a sweat, but when I saw Logan, he was panting and his forehead was shining, his soft dark hair dampened by sweat. I held in my sniggers while Logan glared playfully at me. 'Ok, ok, you beat me. No big deal. But do you want to Shift and go for a run in our territory? We have a big chunk of land. And there's some routes where Pack members are forbidden to run in, if you want.' He offered. After thinking about it, I decided I would go for a run. 'Yeah. But I want to get to know the place- I would have to, I'm Luna now.'
