Monsters and Mana

Prologue

A woman paced a room, a hood hiding most of her features. After a moment she walked to a small pool of water in the corner of the room. She tapped the surface and a ripple appeared, soon an image was shown. A child sat in darkness, crying, their skin was charred and their eyes had dark circles. She tapped the pool again, another child was shown, sitting in a room of light with a bright smile and healthy look, but there was a shadow in the far distance, slowly approaching the child, almost like it was about to attack.

    The woman looked away, she walked to her window and pulled out a gold whistle, blowing into it. A energetic, almost raw melody came from it, and after a moment, a phoenix could be scene flying towards her.

    Once it landed, she began to stroke it. After a while, she sighed.

    "It's begun, old friend. I'll begin gathering the others, but you must begin with the new ones. You know how to find them." She turned towards a shelf that had whistles similar to the gold one. She placed the gold one in its rightful spot.

    After a moment she turned back to where the phoenix had sat, it had vanished. Assuming it had already left, she exited the room, entering a small hallway. At the end of the hallway was a staircase, she walked down it, past a floor, to the bottom. She walked into what appeared to be a main kitchen and living area, going out into the moonlight, and sitting at the edge of a pond.

~Meanwhile~

A woman shrouded in shadows stood at the edge of a small pond. A dark creature, approached her.

    "Did you send the hound after the girl like I ordered?"

    "Yes, my lord. We shadow demons will be at your disposal."

    "Perfect......"

    She began to laugh, a menacing sound. She tapped the pool and a woman sitting at a pond could be seen.

    "I'm coming for you, old friend."

I know, I know. Short prologue. "Why cliffhanger?" WELP. I'M SORRY BUT I WANTED TO GIVE YOU AT LEAST SOMETHING. I have been super busy and am about to go on a road trip. But I hope you enjoyed this sneak peak. I will be back on track as soon as I get some free time. I promise. See you later my little monsters! TEC out!
