It must have been around 5 o'clock when Jack gave up on sleeping. Well, he actually gave up on sleeping a few hours before but at this time he decided to stand up and do something instead of sobbing on the couch. He had to make his mind clear again, he needed some peace, a time-out. He stood up and  walked to the door, his body felt heavier than usual, he almost had to drag himself to that door. It was a difficult journey, but eventually he made it. He opened the door and stood for the next, almost impossible task: The hallway. He was lucky, he remembered the bathroom being the first door left. He just had to walk a few meters to reach it, and even though it felt like those meters contained a few mountains, he somehow made it. He walked into the bathroom, glad that he took the right door. He locked the door and walked to the sink, he drank some of the water and splashed some in his face to feel more awake. That felt a bit better, he felt less like a zombie now, more like a human who hasn't slept a whole night. An ordinary human who was walking in hell right now. He smiled, at least he still had his sense of humor, hidden deep inside of him.

Alright, he felt a bit better now, so now he had to choose a new quest. He decided to go for a walk, maybe he would be able to find the courtyard and the garden again. He wandered trough the castle, walking through hallways and down staircases. Eventually he ended up in a place which he assumed were the stables even though there weren't any horses or other creatures in there. He figured the stables must be somehow connected to the great outdoors, to let the animals in and out. And apart from the staircase he came from there were only two other doors. A big one between two stables and a regular one at the other end. He chose the nearest, the bigger one.

As soon as he opened the door he regretted his choice. A terrible heat suddenly reminded him of this place's reputation. He tried to close the door but something was pulling it from the other side. It took him all of his strength to slowly get the door closed again. When he heard the satisfying 'click' of a closing door he sighed in relief. He wanted to get away from this place, he wanted to go back to the living-room as fast as possible. But when he turned around to walk away from the door he froze in shock. While he was busy with the door a weird creature had managed to get in. It was a creature that doesn't live on earth. Imagine some sort of dark, stormy creature that somehow still looked cute. It was the size of a bunny and his big, black eyes looked up to Jack.

Don't trust creatures you've never seen before, never. You never know what they can do to you. This rule is even more important if you meet the creature in the place called hell. It's probably dangerous and devilish and it wants to kill you. The cute-looking creature made a high-pitched musical sound. Jack slowly looked around for some sort of thing to defense himself with. The only thing he saw was an iron bar, unluckily it laid on the other side of the room, in front of one of the stables. He sprinted as fast as he could, grabbed the bar and turned around again. The creature had followed him, still making that weird noise. Jack held the bar in front of him, not knowing what exactly to do with it, but it did feel saver. The creature seemed to feel his fear and probably saw his defensive behaviour as a threat because it changed. The colour became more black/purple-ish and all the cuteness disappeared. More and more smoke-stuff circled around it. Jack stepped back, creating as much space between the creature and him as possible. He held the bar in front of him, cringed and waited to get hit by the thing.

He felt heat, and it became worse and worse. The creature wasn't attacking him, not yet. He was heating up. If he kept getting warmer Jack would eventually get fried or something. He had to get away from here, but his body didn't listen. The heat had reached the temperature of a sauna, and he didn't know the limits and didn't feel like getting to know them. If this would be his end it would be kinda ironic, he would be the first man who died in hell. Why couldn't he move? Why did he feel so weak? Was he in trance? He couldn't even look, he could only feel the heat getting worse and worse.

And suddenly it ended. He heard somebody running into the room, he heard somebody screaming, angrily screaming. He heard the creature, the monster again, but this time it sounded weak. Suddenly the monster screeched and the heat disappeared. Jack could move again, he opened his eyes and saw some ash on the floor. Then he saw Satan, with the trident still in his hands, he looked frantic. "What were you thinking?! That you could just wander around in hell? This is not some fucking petting zoo!" Satan said furiously. "I'm sorry, I sh.."

"I'm sorry isn't really working here. You realize you would have died if I hadn't been here in time?! You fucking realize that you just got attacked by a creature that is worse than any creature on earth?"

Jack didn't know what to answer, he looked to the floor, ashamed. "I do now."

Satan calmed down, "I.. You... just stay in my sight from now on, okay? This isn't a hostile place and the next time you might end up worse." Jack nodded.

They walked back to the living-room without talking. They each sat down on one of the couches, just quietly thinking. Jack thought of everything that had happened since he woke up in the office, Satan thought of something he should have shared earlier. After a long silence the devil decided to tell something that had been on his mind for a while now. "There is something I need to tell you." He suddenly said, "I should have told you immediately, but I.. I just couldn't." Jack looked him in the eyes now, waiting for whatever he had to share. "I lied earlier, there's.. well.. actually.." Satan stumbled upon the words. "There's a way to get back." He finally got it out and now he looked at Jack, expecting him to be mad, but he just looked sad. The awkward silence returned for a moment until Jack got his thoughts together again. "Why did you lie? Why did you made me feel terrible even though you knew I didn't had to? And why do you tell me this now?" He said, his voice cracking.

Again the awkward silence around them. The problem was: Satan didn't even know himself why he hadn't told him. Maybe it was just because he was meant to hurt people. Maybe it was because he knew the way back would have side-effects. Maybe it was just because...
