Josie nervously walks around district 4, the reaping was today and the special twist that the district would all vote for 1 person who would go, therefore only having 12 tributes this year, and nobody was allowed to volunteer. She knew that there were many people who didn't like her, but she also was not the best person to go. She failed at most things, she wasn't fit to go into the arena and hoped that the others in her district would notice and choose somebody else who would cause the district to succeed.

As the bell rang Josie walked towards the justice building, she was already prepared in her best dress. She quickly got her finger pricked by the person in charge of the 12 year old's and stood in her proper place, waiting nervously for the speech by the guide, Charlotte Willmers, to begin. She welcomed everyone before playing the video which Josie only half payed attention to.

Once the video finished Josie was getting butterflies in her stomach and knew that something bad was about to happen. Of course it's always bad when some-one is reaped, but the feeling was worse than that. Charlotte walked over to the little black box and opened it up. She picked up the single paper, cleared her throat, and called out clearly across the district, "With all votes but one, Josie Hailstone."

Josie's gasp rang out as she was being pushed into the pathway in between the boys and girls. She gulped before walking shakily up to the front and standing on the stage. "How old are you dear?"

"12," she replied into the microphone, barely keeping her voice from cracking.

"12 and your whole district thinks that you can win! That is marvelous!"

"Or they all just want me dead." Josie whispers quietly to herself so that Charlotte doesn't hear and the microphone doesn't pick it up.

"Congratulations Josie, and may the odds be ever in your favor." The peace keepers take Josie into the justice building while Charlotte finishes her speech. No-one comes in to visit her so she just thinks about why everyone voted her, didn't they want to win this year? Or did they all just hate her that much. She was the vote that wasn't for her to be dropped in the arena and left to die, so her parents must of hated her too.

About half an hour later the door opened and the peace keepers took her to the train. Josie just tried to occupy her time, waiting to arrive at the capital.
