It was a scorching hot day, Mercedes was being forced to go to the beach when all was wanted to do was lie in bed with her wonderful Hair conditioner. It had almost hit 100 degrees, she liked to swim but she also loved being in bed, pretty much what every 16 year old girl enjoys. She decided to text her best friend's, Aaron and Ciara. Aaron was some hot football player that happened to become one of the most important people in Mercedes' life. Ciara was the typical best friend who was met in kindergarden and they stayed friends since. Mercedes told them to invite a few people, knowing them they'd invite the entire school. Her parents were on a date, they told her to get out of the house for once, so she did. She went to the grocery store with her two best friends. They bought a cooler, ice, chips, cookies, a few beach balls and floaties and headed to the beach, seeing a few friends there already. Mercedes spotted her boyfriend, Tristan, he was on the phone so she ignored speaking to him, he'd been avoiding her for a while as it is.
"who invited Tristan?" Mercedes asked and she took a deep breath.
"don't know, probably Nathan?" said Aaron.
Nathan was Tristan's "best bud" although it didn't seem like it, being that they fought almost everyday, it was true.
"speak of the devil." called Ciara, as she watched Nathan approach them.
"Have any of you lovely ladies seen Tristan?" he asked, referring to all of us, including Aaron.
"Yep, he said your balls finally dropped, congrats man!" called Aaron, which caused us all the chuckle.
"he's over there my guy" Aaron pointed as he continued laughing at his own joke.
Nathan laughed as he and Aaron did a "bro handshake" after their playful insults.
"hey Ciara." Nathan called as he winked at her before walking over to Tristan.
"what was thatttt?" said Aaron and Mercedes called out at the same time.
"I dunno." she shrugged as she took a sip of her punch.
"Mhm, sure." Mercedes said as she rolled her eyes, turning her head to see Jason, before quickly turning back around.
"Oh fuck, oh fuck, he saw me! is he coming over here?" she asked as he slightly fixed her hair.
"Hey!" called Jason as he walked over to them.
"Hi." said Mercedes quite bluntly.
"How are you, how's Tristan?" He asked, laying a hand on her shoulder.
She looked at his hand, then him again. "fine, we're fine. how're you?"
"Amazing! finally worked my way into getting into therapy.
She smiled slightly as she nodded her head. "That's amazing Jay."
"Haven't called me that in a while, I miss it." He announced, parting his lips together.
She nodded, bouncing on her tip toes in awkwardness. "me too."
"Wanna go somewhere and talk?"
She shrugged, turning around, looking at her bestfriend's for their approval as they shoo'd her off.
She and Jason walked into her father's beach house, plopping down on her bed.
"This your room?" he questioned, looking around.
"Yep." she replied.
"It's nice, it's kind of like your old one, brings back memories." He stated.
"Hmm, never noticed that. It kind of is, huh." She agreed.
"Y'know, I don't go a single night without thinking about the fire, and how I almost lost you and I would've lost my entire mind." He said, looking at her.
"Yeah, I think about it a lot too, you saved my life Jay." She smiled softly.
He took her hand in his, "I love you CC, I would die if I lost you."
"Yeah? That's why we barely talk and you became some kind of player after you broke up with me?" She asked, letting go of his hands and she leaned back on her headboard.
"Are you psycho? I did NOT break up with you, you broke up with me! I tried to talk to you every single day and I have had ONE girlfriend since we broke up."
"Dude, you're holding hands with different chicks everyday, you must not be that tied down to her." She replied, rolling her eyes.
"Why are you so worried about me, huh, Since you're with Tristan."
"I'm not, you're so full of yourself." she rolled her eyes, grabbing her television remote as she turned it on, putting on a show and she tried toning him out, "you're free to leave now."
"Yep, but I won't leave." He stated, sitting cris-cross apple-sauce on her bed.
"Dude, get your fucking shoes off of my bed, this isn't your home, peasant. She called out, pushing him off of her bed.
"Hey! don't push me, I will have you murdered." he chuckled as he was rudely interrupted by Tristan entering the room.
"Hey kids." He said, walking over to Mercedes and kissing her cheek.
Jason scoffed slightly as he rolled his eyes, "I'm gonna go CC, goodnight, i'll shoot a text."
She nodded, "See you Jay." She frowned as he watched him walk out of the room.
"Why the sad face, you have me now love." Tristan said, smiling at her.
"Ha, funny. You haven't talked to me in weeks and you're always way more interest in speaking to other females, so why talk to me now?" She questioned in a sarcastic tone.
"Babe, I talk to you all the time!" He lied.
"I think we should break up, we don't fit and there's no point in trying anymore Tristan." She said, getting off of her bed.
He grabbed her wrist, pulling her back on the bed, "Mercedes, don't make a mistake you can't take back."
"My biggest mistake yet was meeting you." She said, snatching away from him as she ran out of the room, trying to find Jason.
"Hey hey, have any of you seen Jason?" Mercedes asked Aaron, Ciara, and Kaitlyn.
"Over there." Kate pointed, as Ciara hit her, making some kind of eye contact.
"Oh." Called Mercedes as she looked over to see Jason making out with Sasha.
She ran back to room, making sure Tristan was out before locking the door and grabbing her diary. "I'm such an idiot. A huge idiot. Sasha is his girlfriend, he's my ex. I shouldn't be here crying over him, stupid me, always falling for the wrong guys. Stupid me, always loving the ones who don't love me back. Stupid me, never letting go of the past. Stupid fucking me, always crying over shitty boys. Fuck him, fuck her. Goodnight." She wrote, throwing her diary back in her drawer as she laid down, getting under the covers and crying herself to sleep.
