Disclaimer: These events take place immediately after Soul Edge and Soul Calibur were destroyed. Instead of being destroyed as the two siblings thought, they entered a state known as Soul Embrace -- a powerful mode where the swords are fused together. This is exhibited in the story mode of Soul Calibur III. These events are made to describe where the story will take place in Soul Calibur VI and is used as a precursor.

In this chapter, italics is used to represent the jolly side of Tira. Bolded text is used to represent the gloomy side of Tira

Tira

How annoying! The true wielder of Soul Edge was supposed to be that worthless wench! She had the bloodline of the sword! I did not kill her mother and risk my life for her to defy me!

Tira walked up the steps to the site of where the battle took place.

The swords are destroyed. I have to wait another seventeen forsaken years for a new Soul Edge?! I cannot-

A bright light flashed and blinded Tira. She covered her eyes, trying keep moving towards the source of energy. Her blood boiled, and she could feel the surge of power coarse through her veins.

It's back! Bloodshed can begin again! I can't believe it's already back!

The light began to fade slightly, and Tira's eyes motioned towards the floating blade.

What's this?! That's not Soul Edge!

Soul Calibur and Soul Edge were no more. Instead, a new weapon stood in the middle with a new form. The blade had two sides: a stark dark blue side resembled Soul Calibur while a dark maroon on the other represented Soul Edge. In the middle, markings of an ancient language binded the two blades.

I don't care, it's back!

"Tira," a malfested voice echoed from the hilt of the blade in the form of a longsword, "you must take me to the true wielder of the blade."

"I did!" She cried, "but you were destroyed!"

"The true wielder of the blade is not the heir to it."

Tira, confused, asked, "Who's the true--."

A portal to Astral Chaos opened behind the blade. Levitating in the warm air of the summer night, Tira knew exactly who the blade belonged to. She grabbed it, and ran through the portal to find the body of Sophitia.

"Lord Maxi," Leixia soothed, "where exactly are we going?"

"Jeez, I told you guys not to worry about it."

"Yeah, yeah," Natsu moaned, "I thought we were going to find Taki but I don't know why Master would ever come to a dump like this."

"Listen," Maxi proclaimed, "I told you guys that we are going to the temple to meet a friend. Then we're going to find Taki. It's going to be fine guys."

"You said we were getting food," Xiba pouted.

The four of them walked along the wooded path. Maxi bit his lip. He didn't want to have to tell the kids what was really going to happen. He needed to save his friend. He didn't care the cost. Edge Master told him what he needed to do, and he was going to do it at any cost. He couldn't let his friend become the next wielder of Soul Edge. Without that necklace... he wasn't going to make it.

As they continued their walk along the path Maxi stopped suddenly. He threw his hand up in a motion to signal they needed to stop. He looked back, all of them in their battle position. Natsu slid her hands onto the two daggers on her back, preparing for a fight.

"YOU FILTHY MAGGOTS!"

*Somewhere in Astral Chaos*

"Hephaestus why did you do this to Sophitia!" Cassandra cried out in anger.

Wielding her swords, Cassandra screamed out and cursed the name of the God once more. She didn't remember how long she had been stuck in this timeless place but she knew that she had enough. She had traveled looking for her sister, but when she found her body and was knocked out, she woke up on a floating rock in the middle of the dimension.

After some exploring, Cassandra ended up on a path that led to a large tower, a tower that she remembered from some time ago. But before she continued her route to try and find an escape, she felt something that she hadn't felt in a long time -- a breeze of fresh air.

"You are Cassandra?"

Cassandra drew her weapon and turned around, "Who are you?"

"Do not worry, I am not here to fight you. My name is Talim."

"How do you know my name?"

"The wind tells me. It follows me and guides me. It has guided me to you. But this place... it is windless. I can feel the wind that traveled into this chaotic dimension with me dwindling. I know how to escape."

"Is it through that big tower over there?"

"No, I can use the remaining wind around me to create a rift into our world."

"Good let's leave this place I don't want to be here any more. I have to find Pyrrha."

"Cassandra," Talim spoke gently, "I am going to create the portal but people are coming from behind us. Can you hold them off?"

"What people?"

The man with the scythe appeared before them, "so the wind priestess can sense dark magic eh? Too bad you won't live long enough to escape this dimension. The Hero King needs your souls to create the new weapons so you cannot leave."

"Oh I've been wanting to kick some ass," Cassandra nagged.

"Cassandra please hold him off!"

"Oh don't you worry Breezy, I got this."
