The school gates towered above my small frame, the first day of the my new school. I had moved here from Leeds. Mum had to move for work and who was I to not travel with her even though I could've stayed there with my father and my friends. People stared as I slowly made my way up to the huge oak and glass doors of the famous Girls Grammar School. I shoved the huge doors aside and walked through the busy corridors, following the map in the beginning of my planner, which my mother picked up a few days ago. It was the first day of the new term and every inch of the school was alive with voices and shuffling feet on the wooden floors. I pulled at my long selves as people whispered whilst I walked past.
I arrived at my form class with 5 minutes to spare, I entered and sat down on the closest desk and kept my head down. Soon people started to pour in, each one looking at me funny. One girl, with long blonde hair and was chewing gum loudly came over and stood over the desk. A brunette and a red head stood either side of her, looking just as menacing. ''Who are you four eyes?'' The blonde spat out. I adjusted my glasses slightly, remembering that I had them on.
''Forest'' I replied quietly, hoping she would just take that and move away and leave me alone.
''What kind of name is that four eyes?'' she cackled, along with her two sidekicks who were joining in with the amusement.
''Why does it matter?'' I timidly asked, I wasn't sure whether talking back to her was a smart move or not, but it seemed right at the time.
''Weirdo'' She waltzed off along with her two little friends at her heels, they both sent glares as they passed, tossing their long hair behind them. They sat a few rows behind me, with some other girls who burst out laughing along with them. I sighed quietly, it had been less then 5 mintues and someone already found the need to make fun of me because of my glasses.
After registration I made my way to my first class, Art. Probably my best subject out of the other ones. The Art room was right at the back of the builing, you had to go up some stone steps and into a building which was separate from the rest of the school. I climbed some more steps inside the building and turned to see the art room, it had past artwork covering every inch of the room. Making it seem like a tropical rainforest with all the bright colours and shapes. I smiled, maybe I would fit in here, even if it was only for art. I sat down on one of the seats, and in walked the three girls. Great. They sat on the same table and started their cackle of a laugh. I looked at the table, hoping someone would tell them to stop and just leave me alone. ''Well look, it's four eyes!'' The blonde girl giggled out.
''What do you want'' I muttered
''That's not very nice Forest, we're simply trying to me nice, my names Talia. The brunette is Amy and the red head is Sophie.'' She motioned her hands at each girl whilst she explained their names. ''Usauly Chelsea would be with us, but shes gone off to Thailand or something.''
''Okay..'' I mumbled. I wasn't really interested in what she was saying but it was better than being picked on I guess. The lesson continued, I got the same glares throughout the lesson, and for the rest of the day mostly. ''Oi! Forest!'' I sigh and turn around to see the girls, this time with more people. I stared as they surrounded me.
''Um..'' I stuttered.
''I don't think you belong here Tree, you don't fit in. Go back to your woods.'' That same cackle echoed around my me, I shrunk into myself.
''W-Why not..?'' I stuttered even worse, anixtiy growing.
''Just get lost you worthless peice of dirt!'' They shoved me and me not expecting that fell, straight onto the floor as they walked away. I stood and quickly walked home, tears threatning to fall. I ignored my mothers calls and shut my door and sunk into my bed and pulled out a box.
I opened the box slowly, it revealing two sharpeners. It had been awhile since I needed these but it was the only way I could relieve the hurt I felt. It became an addiction and it was the only way I knew how to cope with my feelings anymore. I removed the blade from the plastic and stared at it for a long time, before putting it to my skin and letting the burn sink in. I sighed in relief as I finally let the tears fall.
