"-Beep-Beep-Bee-" I slammed my hand on my alarm clock. As I rubbed the last remnants of sleep from my eyes, I heard Nita moving around in the common room. "Roommates are particularly annoying in the morning, aren't they?", I thought. "Oh well, I'll have to get out of bed eventually." I dragged myself out of bed and headed for the bathroom.
As I looked at myself in the mirror, I could see the tiredness in my eyes. "No more letting Nita convince me to stay up and watch horror movies", I pointlessly decided. Nita could convince anyone to do anything. I guess that trait comes with deep pockets and flawless beauty.
Nita's father owned a large chain of jewelry stores all over the United Kindom. He gives Nita everything she wants, which (surprisingly) doesn't influence her decisions or personality. She's actually a really kind person, just a bit too perky for my taste. Nita is too perky to be human, in my opinion.
I headed out to our tiny kitchen for coffee, and Nita was waiting. "So, what did you think of our movie marathon last night?"
"You mean the marathon of horror movies, which I told you I hated? Oh, it was awesome", I said sarcastically.
"You just need to get the fact that it's all fake in your thick skull. You would enjoy things much more if you did", Nita says while she looks at me like I'm a five year old.
"The fact that it's fake is what I hate, sort of." I begin preparing for class, knowing full well that we'll be arguing through the next hour about this.
"So you want all of that to be real, even It?" She give me a look of pure shock.
I give her a frustrated sigh. "No, that's not what I mean. I'm saying that everything people make now is fake stories with no morals, and no one wants anything different because that's all we're given."
Nita furrows her brow like she's trying to solve a math equation. "I'm lost here."
"I'm saying that instead of wasting everyone's time and money to make something fake and meaningless, people should make something real and meaningful." I give her a smug look, pleased that my philosophic mind confused her.
For a few seconds, Nita looks like she's going to drop this. Then she gives a frustrated shout. "Quit being a buzz kill, Angie." Then she stomped off to her room.
I rolled my eyes and looked at the clock on the wall. "Holy crap! Nita, we're late!"
