"Mommy, mommy, mommy! Who's this! Who is it, mommy? Did you bring us a new friend mommy? Is he the one who brought the bunnies? Is he mommy?"

The hatchlings were crawling all over my body. Sniffing every inch and occasionally licking me. One was about to bite down on my hand to discover if I was a chew toy when their mother stopped them.

"Stop it now. Zalia, Cria, and Ski, this is Caiden. Caiden will be hunting for us while my wing heals. He is not a chew toy."

"Is he one of those ec... ecl... Eclace things you told us about? Those Sanchians that use to be able to talk to dragons? I thought you said that they were all dead!"

"Yes, Ski. Caiden is an Eclectic. And they were all dead but Caiden here is the first new Eclectic."

               "Oh, okay mommy!"

"Now will you please let the poor boy get up Cria?"

"Oh, sorry mommy!" The hatchling named Cria was currently sitting on my chest, her tail was hanging off my side and the longest edges of her wings were moving my shirt around as she moved. Cria stood up on my ribs, her talons poking at my skin through the thin material of my shirt. She jumped down from her perch on my chest and went over to a  rock and started to claw and bite at it. Zalia and Ski were playing with my pants legs, their sharp talons easily ripping through the material.

"Zalia, Ski, Cria, why don't you go outside and play. Go catch some squirrels for mommy." The dragon stood up and once again circled the spot where she'd been laying, this time blowing some fire on the ground beneath her before laying back down, carefully retucking her wing back into her side.

"I meant to ask earlier. How's your wing doing? I mean after it getting hit with a boulder that size it has got to at least be broken right?"

"Dragon bones are a lot stronger than the bones of a Sanchian. Going through an impact like it did earlier would only lock the bone in place, it's probably a bit brittle so I have to be careful not to hit it on anything or it actually could break. The bone won't move again until it's fully healed which means I can't move the wing at all or fly for that matter.I'm lucky it got hit where it did or it could have been much worse. You can go out and watch my hatchlings play if you'd like. I'll be calling them inside not too long from now so if you want to see them you better go now.

"Okay." I grabbed my bow and arrows and walked out of the cave. Cria was sitting by the foot of the mountain by the time I made it down to the forest.

"Oh, Caiden! Look what I caught! I got a squirrel for mommy! Do you think she'll like it?"

"I think she'll love it Cria. Where's Zalia and Ski?"

"They're up in the trees. I think Ski is looking for an owl, he loves owls. Zalia is looking for a snake."

"Okay well, your mother said not too long before she calls y'all back inside."

"Caiden, how long are you going to be staying with us?"

"Well Cria, one of the knights from my village ordered me to stay out here for seven moons and seven suns. I spent my first moon camping last night, and I've just spent my first sun with you and your mother so I'll be staying here with y'all for six more suns. Then I have to return to my village."
