Emily's house, whoever she was, was breathtaking. Covered in flowers and leaves - it truly looked like the house of a witch, something my grandmother would have lived in before she passed.
As I helped Bella out of my Jeep, the two boys let out a loud call. "I think we should go back and see if Jacobs okay," Bella spoke after finally breaking out of whatever trance she was in.
"I hope Paul sinks some teeth into him, serves him right!" Jared said, ignoring the very worried look Bella had on her face.
"No way, Jacobs a natural!" Embry disagreed. "Did you see him phase on the fly?" He joked.
"Come in in girls, we won't bite!" Embry called back to us.
"Speak for yourself," Jared said, earning a glare from me.
"I'll bite harder," I snapped, bearing my teeth at him. He just laughed.
"Oh hey," Embry said as we walked up. "About Emily, Sam's fiancée, don't stare. It bugs Sam." I furrowed my brows in confusion, Bella shooting me a similar look as she gripped onto my jacket tightly, clearly hoping I'd protect her. Which I would, no doubt.
I walked up the steps leading into Emily's house, feeling slightly guilty for the dried mud that was cracking off my boots and falling to the floor.
Bella and I walked in together, albeit hesitant to step over the threshold into the house itself. I caught myself admiring how amazing the house was on the inside, it really had that homey witchy feel to it that I loved. "Are you guys hungry, like I have to ask." A female chucked, Emily I presume. "who's this?" She asked after a brief pause.
The quick silent gasp Bella let out made me snap my eyes away from the decor and onto the female in front of us. The jagged, red scares that ran down the one side of Emily's face left me shocked for a small second. They looked somewhat fresh despite being healed. The usual tingling feeling accompanying my magic started up in my chest, aching for me to try and heal them. However, I knew that I wasn't that gifted. Not like my grandmother had been. A brief smile fell on my face.
"Who else? Bella Swan." Jared said with a roll of his eyes.
"And my friend, Tina!" Embry grinned proudly.
Emily hummed slightly, her eyes trained on the small human next to me. "So, you're the vampire girl." She smirked. My eyes widened briefly before rolling. Of course, there were vampires in this town, why wouldn't I have come to that conclusion earlier. When my father and I studied the different types of supernatural, I had read that the presence of vampires causes wolves to shift for the first time.
"So, you're the wolf girl," Bella muttered back awkwardly, not enjoying the spotlight.
This caused Emily to laugh. "Guess so," She picked up a large plate of muffins. "Well, I'm engaged to one."
