Cameel waited impatiently till the bell of off time rang. She ran until she reached the gate of her house. She rang the bell with real curiosity to give her mom this good news. She told her mom from top to bottom and then she finally said, But mom the registration fee is 10$. So are you having the money? Her mom Lita in a very depressed voice nodded.. We will figure something out dear. Not to worry. Cameel knew that the financial condition of her family was not very good. Along with this they also had to suffer many times in a year so it was not easy for her mom to simply give away 10$. Cameel in a very sweet tone said, No problem mom, it is just a stupid competition. Nothing big. But inside of her heart, she was crying blood tears. She could see her dreams sinking away. In a very low tone, she said to herself, I will have another chance and I believe in that. Cameel was such a jolly and playful girl but that day she spent all of her time with her room and pillow which was wet from her tears. At last night came but Cameel still didnt come out. Her mom got worried and knocked the locked door and said, Cameel are you alright? Yes mom. I am absolutely fine. I am just doing some school work so no need to worry, said Cameel with tears going down her cheek. Her mom went away. Will my cloud ever have a silver lining? she said by looking at the sky with some bright stars. The night passed quickly and Cameels mom Lita came to wake up her for her school. Wake up honey. Time for school. I dont want to go school today mom. Please can I stay home? Lita knew the reason so didnt force her to go. At about 12:00pm Cameel got out of her room to visit her mom. Mom where are you? I am here Cam. I voice answered from a room at the corner. Cameel followed the voice. She was amazed to see that her mom was sewing clothes. What are you doing with these clothes mom? Sewing.?. Cant I sew? asked mom with a smile. No of course you can but its just that it doesnt suit your personality. Mom laughed a bit and then asked, Hungry? Well yes. Ok I will cook something for you. The day went pretty fast and again dawn came. Cameel went to her room to get some sleep while her mom went outside. Finally, the sun rose with a new hope and bright future for Cameel. Cameels mom came to woke her up, Now you dont say that you are not going to school today either. Well thats what I was trying to tell you mom. No more excuses. I am waiting for you at the table with a surprise. Dont be late, her mom instructed and left.
A SURPRISE? What it could be? Cameel thought to herself. She hurriedly got herself ready and went straight towards the table in the kitchen. So what it is? Her mom gave her an envelope and said, Open it. Cameel opened the envelope and to her surprise there were $10 in the envelope. What for? Cameel asked her mother with great astonishment. Why do you forget things so fast? Thats the registration fee for you competition.
But mom you were not having the money. Where did you get this? asked Cameel with tears in her eyes that how much her mother is concerned about her dreams. Thats not your concern. Now get ready. You are getting late for school. Love you mom. I will never let you down. Camel was very glad and excited. She ran towards the school. When she handed over the fee to her class in charge; Mam Sara, she said, Oh dear Cameel! Im afraid you are late. The submission date was that of yesterday. Any spot for me?
No Cameel. Im sorry. But maybe you can get some help from the Principal.
But the principal was such a strict man that Cameel wont dare to ask and in an instant she thought "Carlson might help".
