"SEAMUS, SUZANNA YOU GET IN HERE FOR LUNCH."It was Mrs.Finnigan's fifth attempt to get her children inside to eat, but the 8 and 7 year old were too busy playing with their mother's old broomstick.
"Suz' you gotta stop before you get to the rock!" Seamus yelled after his little sister. He was trying to teach her how to stop on the broom, but she wasn't quite getting it. "LEAN LEFT!"
Suzanna was speeding towards the rocky path in their yard, that they both knew not to fly near. And as she tried to follow her brothers every direction. She just wasn't very good on a broom. She turned to her left and went tumbling off into the edge of the grass. she scraped her knees and hands on the protruding rocks from the path just a little way away. Seamus seeing the fall, cringed, as he went to help Suzanna to her feet.
"How did I do?" The little girl look up to him with the most expecting look.
"You did brilliant." After those few small words the smile on the little girls face grew larger. The two gathered the broom and Seamus flew the two of them to the house.
"SEAMUS FINNIGAN!" His mother yelled as she met them outside. "How many times do I have to repeat my self? You are not to play with my broomstick. It's very dangerous and one of you could have been hurt. Go on and put it up and the both of you go get yourselves cleanup for lunch." Their mother grabbed Suzanna's hand and walked inside leading her to the sink. When the little girl held out her hands for soap her mother saw the scrapes that had formed on her hand from landing on the pebbles.
"Suzanna, did you fly the broom by yourself?" She asked calmly. The little girl couldn't contain her happiness as she let out a squeal of excitement in being able to say she had, very much, flown the broomstick without any sort of help. From the vigorous nodding from her daughters head and the giddy look on her face. The mother sighed and continued to clean up the scrapes before pulling out her wand to heal the scratches.
"Promise me, you'll wait for me to fly next time. I'll teach just like I taught Seamus." The mother pleaded.
"I promise!" Suzanna, feeling quite happy with herself, sat down at the table and dug into her lunch.
Not long after, when the children where running around the house, their father arrived home. Mr.Finnigan was a Window salesman, and it was a practical job for a non practical man. He would go about his day enjoying the normalcy in the muggle neighborhoods and working with normal people, but when he went home something new was always happening, something would be flying or talking, or moving on its own. And his children would be running around and talking about the most bizarre things.
After seeing their father walk through the door, the two children ran up to their father and jumped on him. As the entrance way filled with giggles, the father planted kisses on the two's foreheads and sent them off to continue their game.
Suzanna's favorite game was "dueling" it was a game, created by Seamus, where the two would run around and try to tag each other while shouting made-up spells such as the two's favorites Widdywonk and Serestyo. Non of which were actual spells.
Suzanna looked up to everything that Seamus did. Even tho they were only a year and some months apart the two were very different. Seamus enjoyed being the older sibling, he liked being able to be "the boss" or being trusted by his mother to watch his sister for a couple minutes. Suzanna on the other hand loved the lack of responsibility. She didn't get in trouble as much as Seamus because she was never the one deciding what they were going to do. But they two got along well for the most part. They were always playing together and making up funny stories. And when one was hurt the other would run around and do funny faces to get the other to cheer up. The two were almost inseparable.
The hardest part between the two in their youngest years was Seamus absolutely hated waking up in the early morning. Suzanna was the epitome of the early bird. Always up and smiling when the sun was. She would always be a handful for her mother in the mornings as she was fidgety and impatient in the mornings before Seamus came downstairs. Their mother was worried for how Suzanna would react when Seamus went off to Hogwarts with out her, so she would often encourage her to make friends with the children down the street. But she always had a hard time making friends due to her incredibly high energy, which often came off as annoying or troublesome.
The Finnigan family was lucky the two children tired each other out, before bed time. Even after a full day of running around outside the two would be impossible to put down to sleep. It often took a lullaby, 3 different stories, a trip to the kitchen for a glass of water, and a nightlight to get the children to sleep.
Mr. And Mrs. Finnigan had their hands full with Seamus and Suzanna.
