Hello, my name is Lili. I am 17 years old and in 12th grade. My mom is a travel agent and my dad was a doctor. I was born in New York and I am currently moving to California.
My best friend is Camila. We have been friends my whole life, we are always by each other's sides, and we always tell our secrets to each other because we trust each other. We were born in the same year but she was born in June and I was born in November making her the older one. Her mom and my mom have been friends ever since they were in college and that is how we become friends. Oh, and the picture above is her and me!
I was born with a secret that only my parents and Camila know. I have a healing power. Sure it sounds like a blessing and you're probably wondering, why wouldn't you want this freaking power? I have heard people say that they have always wanted a superpower or something cool and sure I did get a superpower but good things always come with bad things. Sure this power is useful but there is a risky part of it.
My dad and I had the same power. His great-great-great-grandfather had the gene too. The gene has a strange pattern where it just suddenly appears in your DNA. So after a few generations, my dad got the gene and when I was born, I grew up with it and there's no way to tell if my children can develop the gene too or maybe it would just end with me. The gene is really weird.
My dad went to New Jersey when I was 3. He went to visit his brother who was sick. He worked his magic and healed him by touching his brother's arm with both of his hands. On my dads way back home, he felt sick and weak. Once he was home, everything seemed fine until two days later when he died.
My mother became depressed since he was her first love and I was sad. My mom taught me how to control my power when I was 5. She knew most of the basics and how to control it because of my dad so she practiced with me every day because I was always healing people since I didn't know what was wrong with me. For my 15th birthday, my mom gave me a journal that my dad kept. He wrote about all the people he healed and what kind of sickness they had.
My mom and I figured that the cause of my dad's death was probably because he healed a lot of people and my dad did mention something about that to my mom but he didn't explain it fully because he thought it would never happen to him. The journal that he wrote in showed about 40 or 50 people. Now, I try to help as many people without my power because I fear that I would die. I know that I had helped many people when I was little so I needed to be careful because I don't know how many more people I can heal until I become weak. Therefore, the more people I heal, the weaker I become.
I remember that I healed Camila when we were 10. She was riding her bike down a swirly hill until she couldn't stop so she lost control, and fell. When I went running to her, I saw her knee bleeding badly. I was scared so I touched her leg with both of my hands and her knee healed instantly. That's when she found out about my ability.
It feels good to help many people but it's hard when I need to limit it. So welcome to my life.

A/N:
Thanks for reading my story! I appreciate it. If you have any suggestions, feel free to comment them and I'll try my best to include them in my story. Also, in the picture above, the girl with the black hair is Camila and the girl in the blonde is Lili. (I'm a huge fan of Riverdale.)
