My mom and I have been driving for 4 days across the country and to be honest, it was really fun. We have some of our stuff in the back of my mom's truck and we ordered a Uhaul to carry the rest of our belongings to California.
Once we were in the state, we passed by many cities until we finally saw our new house in Riverdale, California. It was average size with two floors, two bedrooms, and two bathrooms. We parked the truck in the driveway and got out.
"Want to go explore and find your room?" My mom asked me when we got out.
"Definitely," I said excitedly.
My mom gave me the key and I took it. I went into the house and looked around. It felt like a fresh start. I went into each room and explored the first floor. Then I went up the stairs and entered through the door to my left. I was a pretty average bedroom with a small window and a closet. I left the room and found more storage rooms and a bathroom.
Then I went into the next room and I fell in love with it. It had a closet and a patio. I've never had a room with a patio before. I went out to the patio and looked down.
"I found my room, mom!" I yelled down at my mom who was getting some stuff from the truck and putting it into the living room.
"Really?" She asked as she looked up at me.
"Yes. You have to see it. It's beautiful!" I yelled.
"That's great, honey." She said.
"Here. I'll come and help you" I said and ran downstairs and outside. We arrived In California at 2 pm and the Uhaul truck is scheduled to come at 4 pm.
After we took our stuff out of the truck. We decided to get some food and snacks. We went to McDonald's for food and then to Dollar Tree for some snacks and drinks.
Once we got home, we took our food inside and ate on the kitchen floor. We talked about funny things until we were done. Then the doorbell rang and I went to answer it.
"Is this the Reinhart Residents?" A Uhaul worker asked.
"Yeah. Let me call my mom." I responded,
"Ok," He replied.
I left the door open and saw my mom walk down the stairs as I was going toward them.
"The Uhaul people are here," I told her.
"Ok," she said and went to the door. She had to sign a few things and I went upstairs to my room. I went to my patio and looked outside admiring the view for little. Then my mom came into my room with a Uhaul man.
"This is Lili's room." My mom said to the man.
"Ok," he responded and then they went to my mom's room. My mom had to show the men whose room was whos so they can know where to place the furniture. I decided to leave so they can do their business. I went downstairs to find my mom.
"Mom, I'm gonna walk to Camila's house so they can do their thing."
"Ok. Be careful." Mom said as we hugged.
"Oh, and is it ok if Camila can spend the night to help me unpack and organize my room?" I asked.
"Yeah, that's fine with me but just ask her mom, ok? " She said.
"For sure. Thanks, mom. Be back in a little." I said as I walked toward the door.
"Ok, bye." My mom said.
Camila and her parents came to California on Wednesday and my mom and I arrived on Friday. Camila and her mom were at Riverdale High School, when we arrived, enrolling Camila so she can start on Monday. My mom is gonna enroll me tomorrow so I can start on Monday too. We are in January so we would be entering halfway through the school year.
Camila's parents got a house on the other side of the same street going three houses to the right. When I arrived, I rang the doorbell and a few seconds later Camila was there.
"LILI!" She screamed when she saw me and wrapped her arms around me.
"It's been so long! I missed you!" I replied back while hugging her.
"Why didn't you text me that you were coming over?" Camila asked when we were done hugging.
"I wanted to surprise you!" I replied back.
"Awww. It's been the worst couple of days since you weren't around." Camila said as she let me into her house. It looked very different but really nice. It was a two-story house too.
"It really was. Texting you every day is not the same as actually being here." I said as Camila closed the door.
"Yup," she said.
"Hello, Lili" Camila's mom said as she came to us.
"Hi, Lili" Camila's dad said too as he came beside Camila's mom.
"Hello" I replied back to them.
"How's it going so far?" Camila's mom asked.
"Really good! California's beautiful!" I said really happy.
"That's good. Would you like something to drink?" Camila's mom asked.
"No thank you. I'm good" I replied.
"Ok," she said and both of Camila's parents left.
"Want to come see my room?" Camila asked excitedly.
"Sure," I said and followed her to her room.
Her room had the same things as her room in New York but it was rearranged in a different way.
"It's different," I said laughing.
"Yeah. I couldn't keep it the same because of the way that the room is shaped." Camila said and we both sat down on her bed.
"Want to sleep over tonight and help me organize my room? My mom said that it's fine and I just need to ask your parents." I asked Camila.
"I would love to!" she said excitedly. "Do you want a tour of the house?"
"Sure. I need to waste time so the Uhaul people can put the furniture in." I said.
"Perfect. Come on" Camila said heading toward the door. After a 15 minute tour of the house, I asked Camila's parents if she can sleep over and they said yes. We walked over to my house and it was already 5 pm.

A/N:
Thx for reading! I don't really know much about how Uhaul works cause I've never moved to a house far away so if I get some information wrong, I'm sorry. Also, the picture on top is how Lili's house looks like.
