Emma's POV:
"Bye! See you next week." I say to the Starbucks manager.
"Thank you Emma! See you next week."
It's already 8pm, and it's raining really hard. My mom is supposed to pick me up, but she's busy today because my little brother has a show that she needs to watch. I walk into the rain, already feeling cold. It's summer! Why is it raining? I walk down the long road, not really looking at where I am going. I look down at my soaking wet Nike's, and think about how cold it is. My hands are on my upper arm, rubbing them fiercely. Suddenly, I bump into someone.
"Shoot sorry." I say looking up at the stranger.
A cute boy with hazel brown eyes and curly hair looks down at me, "it's fine." He smiles.
My stomach rumbles. I blush and he laughs.
"Did you eat dinner yet?" He asks.
"Nope." I reply.
"Me too. I was going to eat dinner over there, do you want to join me?" He asks, pointing to a cute cafe.
"Um really?"
"Yeah why not."
"Sure, thanks."
"I'm Shawn by the way."
"I'm Emma. Nice to meet you."
"You too Emma." Shawn says smiling.
We walk into the cafe, and sit down. I shiver as the cool air con hits my wet skin.
"Wear this."
"Huh?"
"You're cold." Shawn says placing his jacket on my shoulders.
"Thank you." I smile.
after ordering food
"So... tell me something about yourself." Shawn asks looking at me.
I eyeball him.
"I did not mean to sound creepy. Sorry!" He says obviously feeling guilty.
"Don't worry, I don't think you're a crazy stalker. Well, my full name is Emma Abigail Jones, I'm 17, I have a little brother, my parens are divorced, I sing, I hate pickles and I am obsessed with Harry Potter."
"Are you serious! Harry Potter?"
"Black."
"Did you just-" Shawn bursts our laughing and I couldn't help but laugh too. Once our laughter died, he introduced himself.
"My full name is Shawn Peter Raul Mendes, I'm 17, I have a little sister, I sing and play guitar, I hate tomatoes and I love Harry Potter and muffins."
"Wow we're so similar."
"Yeah. Do you live here? In Toronto?"
"I am now. I just moved here last week with my mom from New York."
"Wow I love New York. So I might see you around then?"
"Probably."
Shawn's POV
"What?" She says catching me staring at her plate.
"You ate faster than me! That has never been done before!" I exclaim.
"Well the portion is like two times smaller than the ones in New York, don't worry, you'll catch up."
I smile and look up at her again. She is so beautiful. Her dark brown eyes twinkle under the light, straight brown hair dripping wet from the rain. Her smile is absolutely perfect.
"Where do you go to school?" She asks snapping me out of my thoughts.
"Pine ridge."
"You serious? I'm going there after the summer!"
"Wait actually?"
"Yeah."
"Would you two love birds like to order any dessert?" The waiter asks us.
I feel heat rising to my cheeks as they turn a bright shade of red.
"No thank you. Can we please have the bill."
"Of course dear."
The bill comes and we argue over who's paying but at the end split the bill.
"I'll walk you home." I say, opening up my umbrella.
"Thanks."
We walk back home together talking about the randomest things. In no time, we arrive at her doorstep.
"Thanks for walking me home. I'll see you around."
"I literally live right down the street. Woah."
"Woah."
"Well I gotta go, see you around." I start walking down the street.
"Shawn." She runs up to me.
"I need your number cause you're my first friend here."
I laugh "sure."
We exchange phones and dial our numbers into each other's phones.
"Bye for real Mendes."
"Bye Jones."
I smile as I continue walking down the street. I think I like this girl.
