A/N
OKAY GUYS I KNOW THAT IT HAS LITERALLY BEEN A YEAR SINCE I LAST UPDATED THIS STORY I'M SORRY, OH WELL
But looking back at it: god, my grammar was a disaster! I might be editting the previous chapters, there won't be any big differences (I think, I'll keep y'all updated about it), I'll probably just change how I wrote the story. But anyway, I've got alot of ideas for this book now, and I've finally got my own laptop (fuck yes), also I'll be having alot more time to write now, since summerbreak is about to start and all, so expect alot of updates soon! Thank you guys so much for taking the time to read this confusing creation of my confusing mind :)
All the love, EvaMy eyes widen as he moves closer and closer.
This can't be good!
"Go away! Please!?" I shout desperate. He's got no idea how much trouble this could bring him!
He ignores me as he runs further. He's almost here.
"Who is he!?" Ramon whispers to no one in general. "Go away!" Ramon shouts, now speaking to Dustin, "or terrible things will happen"
He isn't lying...
"Please! Just go!" I shout again. Dustin slows down but doesn't stop running, I recognize confusion in his eyes.
"Shut up whore!" Ramon says as he hits me once again. Dustin sees it and his eyes turn from confused to determined as he starts running faster and faster.
Ramon lets go of my arm and clenches his fists. "Okay, you son of a bitch," he says, "you want a fight? You'll get fight!"
"Stop!" I yell, "Please! Stop! Turn around, please! I'll be okay, just don't come any closer!"
But Dustin doesn't even bother looking at me anymore, because he has reached us. Still running, he jumps into the air and throws himself at Ramon.
Fighting, they roll over the hard ground. I can't see who's who, so I just try to get them off of each other, not quite a good idea, because I get hit so hard that the lights turn out and I loose conciousness.
-------------------------------------------------------
Slowly, I try to open my eyes. Everything hurts.
What has happened?
"Are you awake?" someone asks me.
I turn my head in the direction of the voice to see to whom it belongs. I see one bright, green eye and a bruised and swollen one looking at me.
"Dustin...?" I breathe out, "what... Where are we? What happened? Did we loose Ramon?" I ask while trying to stand up.
He hurries his way to me and softly pushes me down again. "You should lay down for a bit longer, you've gotten some really hard punches"
I roll my eyes, "You don't say"
He laughs, "Yea..."
"So... What happened?"
"Well, when Ramon hit you, you lost conciousness. After that Ramon and I fought for another 5 minutes before I hit him so hard he..."
"What?", I ask, "He what?"
He sighs, and I see hurt in his eyes, "He lost conciousness and his breathing slowed down and I..." I grab his hand and hold it tight, "I think he died" he whispers.
My eyes widen and fear fills me up. Dead? Well, I certainly did not expect thát..
"I'm so sorry," Dustin says, shaking his head and closing his eyes, "I swear to god, I never fight with anyone, but I was on my way home and I saw him hitting you.. I could see he was up to no good, I don't know what happened, or why I did that, I just... I couldn't just turn away! I never meant to kill him, I never meant to... I...""
I sigh, "It's okay. Well, no, it's not okay, but we'll figure something out."
"Aren't you mad at me? Or sad or anything else?" Dustin asks confused.
I feel surprised as I realise that I'm actually relieved that he is no longer with us. Yes, he made my life a living hell, but I'm not a cruel person, after all.
"It's not your fault. You were defending me, it wasn't on purpose, right?"
He just nods, but I can tell how horrible he feels about it. I'm not surprised, though. Nobody should ever have to take someone's life, not even if it's an accident.
All of a sudden a terrible feeling comes over me as the past happenings sink in, and I feel like all the air is being sucked out of my lungs.
"We need to leave, right now!" I say
"What are you talking about?" Dustin asks. He doesn't understand... Ofcourse he doesn't. He doesn't know Jace and his friends as I know them.
"It's complicated, but you'll have to trust me. Jace will come after us when he finds out about Ramon, and it won't be pretty. I've seen it before"
"Why won't you just call the police?"
"Do you really think that's going to stop him? Because I've known Jace for about two years now, and I can assure you; it won't"
"But... We can't just leave! We're in our senior year of highschool, I've got a job and ofcourse I can't just leave my parents behind! They'll never let me go anyway!"
"Oh... About that... You can't tell your parents. You can't tell anyone. If someone knows, they can talk. And believe me, Jace will make them talk" It's only then that I realize that I can't even say goodbye to my own mom.
Tears start to fill my eyes.
"Tyra, I like you, you're a nice girl, but you've got to understand that we can't just leave" he says while holding my face in both hands, whiping the tears off my cheeks with his tumbs.
"Dustin, something like this has happened before," I say. Even just thinking about it makes me want to crawl under a blanket and never come outside again, ever. "Someone had beaten up Dan, one of his friends, last year. It wasn't much of a big deal, but he made it a big deal. He hired some guys to 'take care of it' and a few days later, people found a body in the river. The body belonged to the guy that had beaten up Dan. No one has ever proved Jace to be guilty, but I know it was him. This was only because he had beaten up Jace his friend. What do you think happens if someone kills one of his friends?"
I could tell he started to understand the whole situation by the way all the color faded from his face.
"Dustin, go pack your stuff. Bring some clothes, maybe some food, and all the money you've got. I'll do the same and I'll meet you at the train station in an hour, okay? And remember; you can't tell anyone! Okay? Do you understand that?"
He nodded blankly as we both got up and headed home to get our stuff, hoping that this all had been nothing more than one, big nightmare.
