(A/N: Very unedited lol)

I pulled my long black jacket closer to me as I made my way through the vacant streets. My heels clicked with every step I took.

It was nearly 10:30PM when I finished editing my latest clients book that consisted of disturbing creatures, psychotic men, and terrorized young children.

There had been multiple interruptions today and a very strict deadline as to when I was to complete the editing for this particular book. I had no choice but to stay late and finish. The author was of major importance to the company I worked for and it would be unacceptable to leave it unfinished when it was due tomorrow for our meeting.

This particular client was extremely talented but had a twisted mind and it was unnerving. After reading his work and picturing his smoldering green eyes that have me the chills from day one, I was officially freaked out and scared to be walking home alone at night.

I walked to and from work most of the time, which was about a fifteen minute drive. It was a ways to walk, but I enjoyed the little exercise it provided and relished the beauty of the world surrounding me.

But, I usually got off of work around 4:30/5:00PM. It's perfectly safe to walk home at that time while it's still light out. So, imagine my uneasiness when I realized that I was completely vulnerable alone at night considering I was a women of 5'3 and unarmed.

I picked up my pace suddenly when I felt as if I were being watched. The sound of my heels on the sidewalk matching my steps made me cringe because of the extra noise that would be drawing more attention to myself.

You're being ridiculous I chastised myself.

Don't let the words that were printed on a page by one of your clients make you paranoid!

That's it I reassured myself. No one is watching me, I'm just freaked out by a harmless story.

Just as I came up to a corner where I take a right, that marked the half way point back to my apartment, a man in a black trench coat stepped before me blocking my path.

Keeping my head down, I tried to think nothing of it, attempting to maneuver around the tall burly man.
