I watched him from across the cafe with pure hatred. I couldn't believe it, we've only been apart for two weeks and he's already warming up to another girl. Doesn't he know that our relationship actually meant something to me and wasn't just something to get his mind off of another girl?
I get it, him and that other girl were together for two years. Then he caught her kissing another guy behind the school and it just ended there.
But hey, we were together for one and a half freaking years!
"Uhh... Alice?" My best friend, Marie whispered to me. "You've been staring at him for the past ten minutes. I thought you said that you were over him."
"I-I’m not staring." I stutter. "And am over him. He's a little asshole for treating me the way he did. One and a half years Marie! One and a half freaking years!"
"Do you want to just leave? I know that he's bothering you." Marie suggested. She was right, he was bothering me. But I wouldn't let that get to my head. I can't think about him anymore.
"No." I said a little too harshly. "We'll stay. He doesn't bother me." I lied. "Besides, even if he did, people would think that I'm not over him, which believe me, I am."
"Don't look now, but he's staring at you." whispered Marie. Of course, even though she said not to look, I looked. "I told you not to look!" she whispered harshly, and slapped my arm.
When i looked, of course, Marie was right, he was staring at me. He caught me looking at him and gave me a sly smile, as if to say, 'I'm sorry.' I just gave him a death glare and he looked away. I could see that his date was also staring at me and giving me a dirty look. So, I glared back at her and she finally looked away.
"Wow," I muttered to myself. "He is such a selfish bastard."
"Do you want to leave now?" asked Marie.
I could tell that she was desperate to leave, so I gave in and said, "Sure. Let's go to my house."
