Chapter 2: The forest

The large man approached the group of Eren, Levi ,Mikasa and Armin.

"Don't let him touch you, that's what happened to the others" Armin told the group.

"What happened Armin?" Eren asked. Keeping his eyes locked on the shambling heavily wounded man.

"I'll tell you once you've dealt with him, you need to take his head off" Armin informed Eren.

"What are you saying brat? Levi said in a highly unamused tone. "Gunther is one of my closest allies, you better explain yourself quickly"

"Wasn't Petra also a close ally?" Armin added.

Levi just nodded his head.

"Well I just watched Gunther and Oruo kill her, and look at him, it isn't him it can't be" armin finished making his point.

Levi just stood completely still whilst looking at the ground and contemplating.

After a few moments Gunther was just a few feet away from Levi when Eren suddenly yells "DON'T LET HIM HURT YOU" Levi suddenly snapped out of his thoughts drew out a sword in each hand and quicky swiped each blade through his throat decapitating the large man instantly.

Levi walked up to Armin and grabbed him "You better start talking about what happened in there" Levi demanded as Eren shot him a dirty look.

"It...it all happened so fast" Armin started explaining "Gunther and Oruo saw this man.... Covered in blood and eating a dead woman" Armin had to wipe away a tear as he came to grips with what happened "Gunther went to see what was wrong and was bit" Armin pointed to the large hole and broken bones around Gunthers collar.

Armin remembered what had happened in the forest and began to explain the events after Gunther was bit he explained how Oruo was attacked next and that Eld then went and killed the bloodied soldier.

"There we go" Eld said as he approached Gunther who was lying motionless on the floor making strange noises, "how bad is it?" He asked "shit he ain't movi....." Gunther suddenly lunged at Eld and sunk his teeth deep into his skull.

"ELD!" Petra yelled "I'll save you!" As Petra ran to Gunther he suddenly turned around and using his brute strength just threw Petra to the floor with one arm and she landed besides Oruo.

"Oruo help me stop him" she pleaded
Oruo suddenly jolted his head to look at her "I think I broke a leg" she told her former friend before noticing his eyes had glazed over, "are you feeling well?" She asked before Oruo lunged at her clawing off most of her face with one hand and biting into her breast, ripping a large chunk of her delicate body off "Arghhhhh nooooooooo" Petra yelled and struggled before falling unconscious.

"That's, that's what happened" Armin finished telling the group.

Everyone was silent for a long time.
"If we see anyone with the glazed eyes or moving with a wound that is fatal, we can't hesitate to kill them" Mikasa said.

"What are you saying?" Eren said to the girl he'd known for years.

Levi shot an extremely dirty look at Mikasa, "How can you be so willing to kill our comrades"

"They aren't themselves any more" Armin said, Levi suddenly kicked the small blonde male.

"HOW DARE YOU!!!" He yelled until interrupted my a loud grunting noise.
Another figure appeared from the forest, this time it looked like Eld.

"Jesus Christ, half his fucking skulls missing" Eren said as he noticed the details of Elds wounds, a large chunk of his skull was indeed missing, chunks of brain oozing out of the large hole.

Levi and Mikasa didn't hesitate they both charged the man before he could do anything and in the blink of an eye using one sword swipe each took his head clean off.

"Alright" Levi said in a sad tone "looks like it is that way, we'll stay here for the night.... We'll use our ODM gear and sleep in the trees, tomorrow we'll find Petra" Levi ordered.

later that night Levi descended from the tree tops to think to himself and check on the horse's. What the hell is going on here he thought to himself before Eren joined him.

"Captain what are you....." Eren started to say. "Doing down here?" Levi finished his sentence, "I only sleep a few hours most nights anyway and figured I'd check in on thehe horses, plus the sight of you three sleeping was annoying the hell out me" Levi continued

"Oh... okay, listen I need to tell you I know your in charge but I don't appreciate the way you treated my friend earlier, he'd just had a rough time and....."  Eren said to the small male

Levi glared angrily at the man, "oh, I must not have realised that he just found out his closest friends had just died and then had to kill two of them?, How silly of me"

"I..I didn't mean anything by it, Levi if you need anything...." Eren said

"You know what I need, Eren" Levi said in a serious voice, "you've always known"

"Captain what are you saying" Eren could barely find the words to respond.

Levi approached Eren until they were nearly touching faces "I need you, to survive, and not just for humanity, but for me" Levi said in an emotional tone that no one had ever heard before.

"Levi.... I don't know what to say" Eren responded after a few moments.

"Well I'm tired of waiting around, you can think about it while we go find Petra" Levi said as he turned his back and walked away.

"I don't think I'll know what to say by the morning but....." Eren was cut off mid sentence, "we aren't waiting till morning brat, me and you right now, we are going to into the forest and we are finding her" Levi said confidently.

"But Armin said that she was.... You know...." Eren said whilst staring into at Levi's back.

"I don't care what he said, I need to see it, I'm not leaving her behind, not to mention regardless of what he's done Oruo is still in there too" Levi said.

"So.... Are you coming with me?" Levi said as he turned to Eren and offered out his hand.

"Of course I will!" Eren exclaimed as he grabbed his hand.

The two men set off into the dark forest to find their friend's, one way or another.
