Gayle's POV:

I stood by my window in the spot where my bed once was. Three weeks ago my mother told my sister and I we'll be moving to a new country. I locked myself in my room for a day and only left to grab a snack. We'll be moving away from our home town. The town where all our childhood memories are, good and bad. Maybe moving isn't as bad as I think. Who am I kidding? I'll have to go through the whole 'new-girl bullshit and meeting new friends crap'.

I was deep in thoughts when a knock came to my bedroom door. "Come in." I said, leaning against the wall. The door opened revealing my sister.

She closed the door behind her and leaned against the wall beside me. "Are you okay?"

"Yes. I feel ecstatic." Sarcasm evident in my voice.

She sighed sitting on the floor indian style.

"I'm just sad, we'll be moving away from our home town, starting new schools and living new lives someplace different." I said looking out the window into the clear blue sky.

"Everything will be alright, just give it a chance then you'll see that moving isn't such a bad idea."

"Yeah I know. But all of his memories are in this house." I looked around, "Its just a little hard to forget him and move on."

"We will be moving on but his memory will always be with us every where we go." she reasoned.

I sighed.

Nine years ago, he got really ill. The doctors couldn't find a cure. He eventually died three days after my 9th birthday. I locked myself in my room for a week, crying.

It was hard but I had to move on. I loved my father a lot and I still do. Everyone knew I was his favourite. He never said it out loud but we all knew. I was closest with him so his death took a toll on me the most. I know my mom and sister took it hard too but they put up a tough facade. After the funeral, at nights I would hear mom in her room sobbing so I know what she was feeling.

Up until this day our mother never re-married nor had a boyfriend. Well not that I know of. Even if she did have one she wouldn't hide it from us. The only thing she busied herself with as far as I know is taking care of my sister and I, while devoting herself to her job.

My sister gave me a side hug before she replied, "We all miss him Lea. But dad would have wanted us to move on. And besides the new environment will be good for all of us."

I gave her a nod, "I hope there's no drama there. I just want to go through this school year un-noticed."

"I highly doubt that."

I shot her a playful glare before looking around the room.

"Think about it Gayle. Mom is always taking care of us, the least we can do is be happy for her promotion and cooperate with the move." she reasoned.

"I'll give it a try." I said.

She smiled saying, "Mom even could maybe start dating again."

She tried doing that weird eyebrow wiggling thingy you see on tv and failed.

"Yeah right." I replied snickering.

She chuckled and smiled at me.

"Hey, um, did you say goodbye to Ashley?" she asked.

Ashley is my best friend. We had been friends since elementary school. She was so little for her age at that time, the older kids think it would be funny to try and bully her. When I saw what was happening on the play ground one day, I got mad and punch her bully square in the face.

Ever since that day we became friends and did everything together. We were inseparable. That's what my Dad use to say. It was really hard to say goodbye to her.

We cried our eyeballs out. We still would face time each other although it wouldn't be the same as when we're side by side but it would have to do until I see her again. She promised me she would visit whenever she could. I missed her already and we hadn't even left yet.

I was about to reply when the door opened. Our mother came into view showing off her blonde hair that flowed in small waves down to her wide hips.

"The cab is here. Its time to go girls. I've already gotten both your stuff in the car trunk. The furnitures are being shipped to our new house along with all our cars." She says giving us a small, happy smile before leaving us.

"Come on," my sister says in a cheerful tone. I sighed looking around the room once again before I nod my head in agreement and walked out the door closing it behind me.

90 minutes later; after the drive to the airport, the check in and all that shinanigan, we are on our plane, being prepared for our 20 hour plane ride. The flight attendants go down the isles, making sure everyone's seat belts are on properly, before some how telling the pilots everything is a go.

I was seated between my sister who got the window and my mother at the end. This was my third time on a plane but I was still a little nervous.

We soon feel the plane take flight, and my stomach sort of drops. We're actually leaving. Mom must have saw my sad face because she squeezed my hand and smiled kissing my forehead, "Everything will be alright, honey."

I let out a sigh giving her a shakey nod.
