Anne's P.O.V

They didn't know I was crouching behind the bar, listening in as Auntie Christine told Marie of her and our father's childhood.

I was listening as she told Marie the last time she saw our father again.

I didn't think about it. How she felt losing her only brother. That must've sucked.

I stumbled into the kitchen, rubbing my eyes from the sudden light of the candles.

Walking over I grabbed some milk and a cookie.

"Cherish your siblings,"Aunt Christine had said,"You'll never know when they'll be gone."

I contemplated this, remembering what I had told my sister. I looked at her, decorating the cake.

She was in her baggy Panic at the disco t-shirt and blue fluffy pajama bottoms. Her hair was tied up in a messy purple bun. Even then I could still see my sister.

The one I used to stay up at night with to talk about boys with. The one who I would go to in the middle of the night to sleep with when I had a bad dream. The one who dragged me on adventures.

My eyes hardened and I walked off muttering Goodnight.

Going up the stairs I finished off my cookies and milk, brushed my teeth and went to bed.

Marie's P.O.V

When I woke up the next morning my entire body was sore.

Sore from the run in the woods, and sore from life. My aunt walked in banging pots and pans together,"WAKEY WAKEY! EGGS AND PANCAKEY!"

I groaned and rolled over,"I'll wake up at noon."

My aunt didn't stop banging,"No you won't! I discussed with your principal and he agreed to let you go back to school."

"Oh? And what did you do to have him agree to that?"I asked sitting up.

The banging stopped,"Just get up."

I muttered something under my breath and had to dodge a pot that suddenly flew in my direction.

"Fine fine I'm getting up!"I staggered towards the bathroom.

"Good and hurry up!"She slammed the door.

After doing my business and getting changed into some blue high tops, baggy overalls and a shirt that said "MEEP" I went downstairs.

I sat down as pancakes were put in front of me by Jason. I quickly moved it onto the table mat next to mine, not sure if it was poisoned.

Jason narrowed his eyes at me,"Aren't you supposed to be wearing the schools uniform?

"You mean that khaki skirt and blue collared shirt in my closet that said "Wear me"?"I asked picking up a cookie from last night and munching on it.

"No the other one,"Jason replied sarcastically.

"No thanks,"I chewed,"Didn't wear em the first day of school definitely not going to ever."

"That was just because it hadn't been fitted for you yet,"He replied annoyed,"Now go change."

"You're not my Dad,"I told him continuing to munch on cookies.

"It's a good thing too or I would've washed all that crap off your face and sent your arse off to military school,"Jason countered,"Go change."
