Josh's View
My life changed since the war.
It all started in a small town called Ishvow, there were no neighboring towns but it was a small, quiet place. I was with my friend Scott Mcrow, at his father's cafe called "Mcrow Cafe." we'd meet there every morning and talk about our future. Who would've thought our future would be like this...
"Hello, you awake Josh," Scott asks, as he snaps his fingers in front of me
I shake my head to bring myself back to the present. I look around and see people sitting at some tables, I see people walking across the street, I look at Scott and see him put sugar in his coffee.
He looks at me with his rugged face and asks, "So, I was thinking we could head over to the park for that Military show that's happening today."
"Uh... yeah, that sounds good," I say, grabbing my coffee and taking a sip.
I've wanted to go to the military show for quite some time now. I admire the military and seeing demonstrations of their new weapons.
Scott looks at me with a concerning look.
"I don't think you heard me, I said it was a military show."
"Sorry, I was just thinking about what I heard," I say, rubbing my eyes.
"What did you hear?"
I take another sip of coffee to clear my head.
"I heard a few people say that there were soldiers coming into town beaten up and bruised, some were even on a stretcher," I say, with a little worry in my voice.
"It was probably some accident..." Scott starts to say. "Remember, there was some kind of drill at that military base this morning ."
I stare at my coffee for a long moment before hearing a voice ask, "Need more coffee boys?"
I look over towards the counter and see Paul Mcrow walking over with a pot full of coffee. He is a fine man, always helping us and giving us space when we need it. Paul was like a second father to me.
"How many times do I have to tell you, dad, we're not boys anymore," Scott says.
"I'll take some more, sir," I say, holding my mug up.
Paul starts to pour the coffee in the mug just as we hear sirens sounding. We all look outside and see people running frantically from left to right. some were even tripping over each other.
"What's going on?" Scott asks.
I look over at Paul and I see a frighting look come over his face.
"Get to the basement, now," Paul says, as he runs outside to help anyone and everyone.
We get up and run towards the basement doors. We open the doors; I look back and see Paul running towards us with a small group of people.
"Get down there, quickly," Paul says, grabbing one of the door handles.
We run down the stairs and as we're running we hear a loud clang coming from upstairs. I turn around and see Paul fastening the latch on the door, then we hear a loud Boom coming from outside.
"What's going on out there?" I hear a voice ask from the back somewhere.
I notice that there are about ten, maybe fifteen, people down here in the basement. The space is a lot bigger than I thought.
"Listen, everybody, we need to wait till it calms down up there," Paul says, walking towards the back of the basement.
"What do you think is happening up there?" I hear Scott ask.
