Audrey's P.O.V
I was standing of the edge of the plank, trying not to look down. There was another boy next to me, he looked more scared than I was. I looked away then over again to see him gone. He was falling to his death. I was in shock that's going to happen to me. I don't want to fall to my death, I don't want to die. I was pulled from my shock when the plank of wood I was standing on shook. I turned to see Blackbeard grinning an evil grin at me.
"THIS BOY HAS BEEN HERE A GREAT DEAL OF TIME NOW AND HASN'T LEARNED THE RULES"
I was terrified he was going push me off. Just then a gust of wind came and the hat I was wearing flew off and drifted away. No, my hat, I need my hat! My long hair fell from its loose bun and no hat to keep it up. Blackbeard, the crew and all the miners now know my secret.
"You're a girl?" Blackbeard was shocked. I was even more scared now that they knew I was a girl. What were they going to do? Would they still kill me? I was pulled forward and onto the ship. Everyone was staring at me, I felt a little self-conscious. Two men grabbed my arms, trying to restrain me but I fought back. Then something hit me in the head and everything went black.
I woke up in a cell, but not the mine cell. No, this was a ship prison cell. I was on the flying ship. I have to get out, I can't just stay here. I wonder around the cell trying to find anything that could help me escape, but I couldn't find anything. Then I heard the door from up top open, someone was coming down. It was Bishop. He was putting a man in the cell across from me. That's when I saw it, the keys hanging on his belt. How am I going to get them?
I started to cough, like really cough to get his attention.
"Ey what's going on over here?"
"I can't breathe" cough, cough "water" cough, cough "I need water."
He nodded his head and ran off and in just moments he was back with a cup of water. He reached his hand through the cell bars to hand me the cup. Right before I grabbed the cup I yanked his arm toward me then back, dislocating it. He fell to the floor in pain, that's when I took the opportunity to knock him out. It was easy to unlock the cell, considering there were only two keys. I made my way to the door at the top, peeking through it first, before running out. After making sure it was clear I stepped out into the light. I tried to stay unnoticed but then I heard a group of men walking my way and went into a closed room. I stayed by the door ready to escape when a voice startled me.
"Nice to see you again, love."
I spun around to Blackbeard sitting in a chair with a glass in his hand. I stayed quiet.
"So, do tell me is there a name to the only girl in my mine?"
I hesitated before responding, "Audrey."
"And how long have you... been here, on the island? In the mine?" he got up from his position and walked toward the window that covered the back wall. I opened my mouth to speak but nothing came out. I cleared my throat and tried to sound brave as I speak. "Since I was young" so much for trying to be brave, I barely whispered when I spoke. He looked intrigued yet confused. He motioned for me to come towards him. At first, I was hesitant, then I obeyed and walked to the window but kept my distance. He noticed I wasn't going to get any closer than that. So, he then circled me like he was examining, it was weird. I felt my whole-body tense up, he was so close.
"You've been here for quite a while..." he stopped, and we were now face to face. "And have managed to fool everyone in this mine that you were a boy?" He asked it as a question. All I could bring myself to do was nod. He gave me one simply nods back like he was satisfied with me. I couldn't breathe now, it was terrifying yet thrilling. I was talking to the pirates of all pirates and hopefully won't get killed. "What's this?" Blackbeard took hold of my wrist. I had a leather wrist bracelet on.
He turned my hand, so it was palm up. He then proceeded to take the bracelet off my wrist. My eyes were locked onto his and his onto mine. The bracelet was off my wrist and the birthmark I was trying to hide was visible. He looked at it confused. I've been confused my whole life, I had no idea what is.
"How long have you had this?" I could hear the shock in his voice, so I looked away him and down to my wrist.
"My whole life." There was silenced. "Do you know what it is?" I was hardly whispering, I wonder if he heard me. He lifted my chin, so I would meet his eyes once again. After a brief moment, he turned and spoke; "I know it as the pan." I was still confused what does that mean. "The pan in the native tribe is their bravest warrior. It is also a musical instrument that makes a high-pitched sound that only fairies can hear." Fairies? I've never seen a fairy. He handed me my bracelet back to me. Thankfully I caught it and put it back on. "BISHOP" I was startled by his yell. In less than a second Bishop was at the door. He was holding his shoulder. Someone must have put his shoulder back in place and by god it must hurt.
"Take her away." I got scared, I'm pretty sure I wasn't going back to mine.
I was brought back to the same cell as before but this time I was chained to the wall. This suck, I'm just supposed to sit here. I could tell it was getting dark out and I was getting sleepy. I laid my head on my shoulder and tried to get comfortable and sleep.
