Meredith stayed, what harm would it cause if she spent a couple more hours with her crushed sister, the one who'd just lost the love of her life. 

  Thatcher was with Molly in the hospital, but they didn't want to come in, nobody knows exactly why.
Lexie didn't know they were there, and Mer thought she was already too depressed to deal with her father and sister.
Molly came in, said nothing, she couldn't even look at Lexie, maybe it hurts too much, maybe she doesn't like to look at sick people... But the real reason is that they had a fight a few days ago, Lexie never told the reason, but it was a big deal, and just as always, Molly was wrong... Lexie only wanted to protect her, but she was too selfish to accept help.
