"what have you done?" the headmaster bellowed, all eyes now turned to the young girl as he stood over the lifeless body on playground. i pitied her as she was dragged away, crying and screaming that she had to do it.
the young boy came back to reality as he recognised the girl standing in front of him.
"aria?" he said. she made a thin line with her mouth and nodded.
"it's been a while, christopher." he rubbed the back of his neck nervously.
"yeah. i haven't seen you since...the incident." she glared at him.
"do not mention that while i am around." her eyes slightly changed from brown to red. christopher backed away, unsure of what was going on.
"i'm sorry. i have to go." she stammered, dashing out of the room. christopher stood there, shocked of what happened.
"she really is a demon..." he decided to follow her. she noticed this and ran faster. "aria! come back! i want an explanation!" he yelled.
she bent over to catch her breath and stretch her back. at that moment she decided to face it. she was tired of running.
"enough. i'm done with this!" she yelled and turned slowly. "christopher, seriously. it's not safe for you to be with me, just leave." she cried, tears falling down her pale face. he instantly felt pity for her.
"i know you're a demon, aria. no need to hide it from me." he said, pulling her in for a hug.
"h...how?" she asked, pulling away from his grasp.
"the incident. i've known since then." he chuckled. "plus, you're too pretty to be human." she blushed, an usual sight. the red looked darker than it should on her almost white skin.
"does anyone else know?" she asked with wide eyes. he shook his head. a sigh of relief escaped her lips. "otherwise i'd have to leave." she said.
"why?" he asked, tilting his head slightly.
"they would try and get me." was all she said before turning and walking off again. he walked alongside her, making sure she was safe.
"who's they?" he asked. she turned to look up at him.
"you don't want to know." she replied.
"yes. i do want to know." he said to himself.
the next day, they met again. near a river this time.
"if you're a demon, why didn't you kill me when i approached you?" christopher asked, walking into the water. she laughed.
"not all demons are bad. i only killed jethro because he was an evil demon." christopher stopped walking.
"wait. jethro was a demon too?" she nodded. "well, i didn't really pay attention to him anyway." he shrugged. she chuckled.
"you know, my brother felix used to like humans, but doesn't trust them after what they did to our mother." christopher nodded. he didn't need her to say what happened. he already had an idea of what they did. "speaking of which, here's my brother now." she smiled, waving at the handsome young man walking towards them.
"hey ari, who's this?" he asked, looking over at christopher.
"felix, this is christopher." aria sighed.
"he knows we're demons." felix's eyes widened. that was the last thing christopher remembered from that day.
christopher woke up in a cell. arms chained down, cuffs cutting into his skin. his lips were dry and cracked from the lack of water.
"where am i? how long have i been here?" he asked, worried. "am i dead?" a loud chuckle could be heard across the room.
"no, idiot. you're not dead. you're in the demon dimension. you've been here a few hours." felix said, approaching the cell.
"and i'm here because...?" aria came up behind her brother.
"you know our secret. you must meet with my father now." she said, her head hanging low. he noticed their wings, fangs and change of eye colour. felix and aria now had flaming red eyes. their fangs showed when they spoke and their huge yet beautiful wings sat on their backs. christopher wondered if they were heavy. aria had dark brown and black wings. felix had fully black. yet, they were still breathtaking. finally, christopher was let out to go meet the king. "good luck." aria whispered to him as the guards pulled him away.
"do you have any idea how much trouble you could cause if you tell a single soul about us, child?" the king said, quite gently. not out of anger or anything scary at all.
"not exactly, but it would be terrible, wouldn't it? i swear on my life, i have not told anyone about this." christopher said. the king nodded.
"very well." the king stated. "take him home, felix and aria." he called his children. "you shall watch over him." they both nodded and looked over to the boy.
"just because i'm stuck watching you doesn't mean i like you." felix growled. aria slapped her brother and smiled at christopher.
"we'll take good care of you. don't worry." she chuckled.
