Chapter .22

Tomorrow is the day we leave to go see the house our parents picked out in Oregon. I was terrified, happy, sad and that's just a few it's been a few days since the graduation and we were packing.

It's been about 3 weeks since that huge blowout with my mom. Things with my mom have been rocky don't get me wrong we are not on the best of terms but we are getting better. I wanted to be on good terms with her before I left. I plan to talk to her about it before we left I don't want to go to Florida when we leave Oregon with bad vibes because it is supposed to be a summer trip.

I was in my room packing when I heard knocking on the front door. I went down the stairs to answer it. When I opened the door it was Josh.

"How come you didn't just use your key?" I asked him. I watch him move some of his bags and stuff over in the house.

"I lost it." He says. I shake my head.

"That's ridiculous," I say.

"So what time do we take off tomorrow?" He asks.

"5 in the morning so you need to at least be up at 2 so we can get there and get through security and all that other stuff," I say.

"Ugh so bossy. But I came for another reason" He says. He hands me a bag when I look in it I'm shocked.

"Why did you just give me a pregnancy test?" I ask.

"You are undoubtedly sexually active. And I'm fine with that ,but if this pregnancy test or any of the ones I'm going to make you take while we are staying in Oregon come back positive I'm shipping you back home to mom and dad this was one of my conditions of moving to Oregon and mom and dad agreed so did Gabes parent's." He says.

"This is bullshit I'm on the pill and we are always safe everytime we have ever had sex I'm not pregnant," I shouted. I cried.

"Well if so take the test."He says. I walk in my room and close the door. I just sit there and think a few minutes later my brother walks into the room.

"Don't take it personally but the only reason we are doing this is that we care and I don't want you both to ruin your life before you can even start one?" He says.  I cried

"You guys will never understand my feelings. I just feel like you don't trust me enough. Do y'all think I don't understand the risk of what we are doing, I'm getting serious someone I understand that there's a chance I could get pregnant but we take all the precautions, while also praying and hoping that I don't. I will take this but after this, our relationship will never be the same." I say.

I go in the bathroom and take the test leaving it on the counter I sit and wait. After about five minutes I pick up the test and its negative. I walk out of the bathroom.

"Negative," I say.

"Alrighty."He says. Getting up he walks over and kissing my head before leaving.

A few hours later my mom comes home and puts Cindy to sleep. I was laying in my bed with headphones in on my phone when she came into my room. I slowly pull up my headphones and wait for her to get to my bed.

"I love you never doubt that. I care and I know your brother told you about the pregnancy test thing. It's just a precaution and we all agree to the terms of it, you don't have to like but you will follow that rule. Everything I do for you is because I care about you and I wouldn't want you to ruin your life for one second because of a dumb mistake. We may be on rocky terms right now but later on, you will understand." She says.

"I do understand but y'all will never understand my feelings and I don't know how to explain it. I will never be mad at you all for wanting me to be safe. I'm not acting out I'm doing what I feel like I have to do what's right for me and being with Gabe feels right to me. We are together and it's amazing. I want to enjoy this, this is my last year that I can act like a teenager and live my life like I'm a teenager. That includes making dumb mistakes, not the mistakes that ruined my life I think being mean to keep me from being something I'm not and I like that. A little Trust that I would never do anything to ruin my life or anybody else's life." I say. She gives me a hug and I hug her back.

"Get some sleep you're going to need him you have to get up at 2 in the morning and wake up Gabe so I guess that's an added. Goodnight I love you" she says. She kisses my head on his mom I text Gabe and say goodnight.

And lay down until the darkness and fatigue consume me.
