Secret Valentine

Alice’s P.O.V

   I had finally decided on the books that I was going to take out from the library (after a gruelling hour and a half of picking up books and putting them back). Stupid library book limit. I joined the queue to get my books stamped. Tomorrow was Valentine’s Day and if I was going to survive the dreaded 24 hours then I would definitely need to keep myself occupied; in this case by having a stock of books to indulge in.

   Finally I was at the front of the queue and the librarian scanned and stamped my books before I headed for the exit. I stepped through the doors and my books instantly came into contact with the floor, emitting a loud thud. I realised immediately that in my daydream I had collided with someone – I looked up – or someone had collided with me. I was met with the smirking face of none other than Emily: my worst nightmare.

   “Oh look who it is,” she announced to her group of followers. “Clumsy little Alice.” In response they all chuckled. “Are you looking forward to Valentine’s Day tomorrow? All the cards, the gifts, the-“Then her face turned into a mock expression of shock. “Oh wait. You never get Valentine’s gifts do you?” Her followers snickered once more. “Have fun tomorrow loser; try not to get too lonely.” She turned on her heel to walk away, but turned back briefly. “Oh, and next time: watch where you’re going.”

   I just stood watching their sneering faces turning the corner before I felt tears pricking in my eyes. It was true: I had never received any kind of Valentine’s gift or message. Apart from the gifts my mother gave me to “celebrate” the day, but that doesn’t count. I suppose that I was really as undesired as I felt. I then remembered that my books were still scattered across the floor of the empty corridor. I bent down to pick them up as quickly as possible and began to walk towards the exit.

   “Hey!” I heard someone call from behind me. I slowed down a little, not sure if they were actually talking to me. “Alice!” I turned around at the sound of my name. It was Max; a boy from my English and Photography class. I have to admit that he’s rather – well extremely – good looking. He has these deep chocolaty brown eyes and matching chocolate brown hair that looked so smooth and framed his face in a perfectly messy demeanour.  I snapped out of it as he began to speak again. “I think you dropped this.” In his outstretched hand was a book that I had missed while collecting all of them. I took it thankfully.

   “Thanks.”

   He tilted his head, looking rather concerned while inspecting my face. “Are you okay?” he asked gently. That’s when I realised a single tear slowly running down my cheek. I quickly wiped it away with the back of my sleeve before nodding in reply to his question (the answer not being 100% the truth, might I add) and turning to walk towards the exit, before any more tears could escape. I couldn’t wait to get home.

Max’s P.O.V

   I watched as she walked off. Little did she know I had heard everything that Emily had said to her; how could they say that? She had done nothing wrong to them and they had to upset her like that. It hit me harder than I had expected anything like that would. Maybe it was down to the fact that I had liked her for a while and still kind of had a crush on her.

   Emily’s spiteful words kept running through my head along with the sad expression on Alice’s face. I really couldn’t take it any longer; I had to do something. And I had the perfect plan.

A.N.

   I'm baaackkkk! I have some more things that I'm working on at the moment, but I shall be working on this specifically for a while. Sorry it's so short, but I thought that was a good place to stop it. Also should I continue with this? Please leave me a cooment to tell me what you think? 

   The song for the chapter is obviously going to be Secret Valentine by We The Kings, because it is an absolutely perfect song and it also matches the title :b
