DO YOU STILL REMEMBER THE FIRST DAY YOU KNEW

THAT WITHIN YOUR WOMB A NEW LIFE GREW

AND DO YOU REMEMBERTHE PAIN OF MY BIRTH

OR DO YOU JUST SMILE AT WHAT IT WAS WORTH

DO YOU REMEMBER ALL THE LATE NIGHT FEEDINGS

AND THE DIAPER CHANGES I WAS CONSTANTLY NEEDING

DO YOU REMEMBER THINKING HOW FAST I DID GROW

WELL ON THIS DAY MOTHER I WANT YOU TO KNOW

I MAY NOT REMEMBER WHAT'S WRITTEN ABOVE

ALL I REMEMBER IS FEELING YOUR LOVE

ON MOTHERS DAY I SIT AND I THINK OF YOU

AND ALL THE THINGS, THROUGH MY LIFE, YOU WOULD DO

THE LIFE THAT YOU GAVE ME AND THE LOVE THAT WE SHARE

IS SOMETHING, DEAR MOTHER, THAT WILL ALWAYS BE THERE

AS A YOUNG BOY I WOULD PLAY IN THE SUN

MY JOURNEY TO MANHOOD HAD ONLY BEGUN

AND YOU WERE THERE THROUGH IT ALL

TO PICK ME UP WHENEVER I'D FALL

YOU KISSED MY OWIES AND BANDAGED MY KNEES

YOU'D HOLD ME UNTIL THE PAIN HAD EASED

THEN YOU WOULD SMILE AND TELL ME TO GO PLAY

WELL ON THIS DAY, MOTHER, I WANT TO SAY

PERHAPS AS A CHILD I JUST DIDN'T KNOW

HOW FAR SAYING, "THANKS MOM" WOULD REALLY GO

MOST TIMES I'D JUST SMILE AND JUST RUN AWAY

ONLY TOO EAGER TO GET OUT AND PLAY

BUT THIS IS YOUR DAY AND NOW I CAN SEE

SO THANK YOU FOR ALWAYS BEING THERE FOR ME

SCHOOL WENT BY FAST, BUT I REMEMBER LATE NIGHTS

YOU'D STAY UP LATE TO GET MY PROJECTS JUST RIGHT

YOU WERE THERE WHEN I'D FALL FOR SOME PRETTY YOUNG THING

YOU WATCHED AND YOU SMILED AT THE NEW LOVE SHE'D BRING

AND YOU WERE THERE TOO WHEN THAT LOVE FELL APART

YOU'D HOLD ME AND HELP MEND MY BROKEN HEART

AND YOU WERE SO HAPPY ON MY WEDDING DAY

BUT TO ALL THOSE GIRLS I JUST WANT TO SAY

THERE IS NO GREATER LOVE THAT COULD EVER BE KNOWN

THEN THE LOVE THAT MY MOTHER, THROUGH MY LIFE, HAS SHOWN

SHE'S ALWAYS BEEN THERE, AND WILL BE TO THE END

WHATEVER LIFE BRINGS, HER LOVE WILL NOT BEND

I KNOW, MOTHER, WE'VE A LONG WAY TO GO

AND SO ON THIS MOTHERS DAY I WANT YOU TO KNOW

THAT I AM SO THANKFUL FOR ALL THAT YOU'VE DONE

AND I'LL ALWAYS LOVE YOU FOR I AM YOUR SON
