mackenzie's family has never had much money. her mom worked as a waitress, living off of tips, and her dad as a busboy at a nearby motel. when her parents divorce, her mother meets a new man, who happens to be a lawyer. when his pittsburgh job sends him to los angeles for god knows how long, mackenzie is met with issues that she feels only she would have to deal with.
johnny's family makes their money off of tree tapping. surprisingly, the job made the family rich as can be. his father has a second and more important job as a lawyer. his family makes a move for his fathers job in july of 2016. after becoming the principals obvious favourite family, him and his younger sister, lauren, are chosen to be student buddies of a new student, mackenzie ziegler.
will mackenzie continue with her issues, or will johnny help her see sunny days?
