EPILOGUE §

"What?" I almost scream into the phone the moment I pick it up.

"Man, where the hell are you?" Josh whispers harshly through the speakers. yeah. I've had the misfortune of getting paired up with my ex-boyfriend for the semester's last paper work project. Surprisingly enough, we got on (considering the the previous state of our relationship) well and only occassionally bickered. Curtains of rain sheathe the windshield, blurring the sight in front of me. "It's five minutes before the bell rings."

I restart the car. The engine rustles. Then dies out. Damn it. "My car's not fucking working." I grit my teeth so hard I swear they almost sink a little deeper into my gums. I welcome the pain.

"Seriously?" Josh says. "Are you freaking kidding me? I told you I should've just brought that stupid project home. My car's way cooler and much more reliable than your piece of junk."

"Shut up."

"Whatever. Want me to go over there and pick you up?"

"You're at school already," I say, rolling my eyes, "You can't get out unless you have a pass, remember?"

He cusses under his breath, something about 'crazy-ass school management' and 'stupid teachers'. "Fine. Just hurry up, man."

I roll my eyes and start up the engine again. It roars. "Come on, come on, come on, come on. Start." The sound deflates. "Fuck!" I pound my fist at the stupid steering wheel and groan, cursing my dad's old, beat-up convertible to the lowest underworld. Why do this to me now? I can walk from here, but then a month's worth of work and sitting beside my ex-boyfriend (seriously, that takes a lot more effort than the actual project) will be soiled.

I forgot my umbrella too.

It's like all the gods of misfortune have met up and conspired against me.

Thank god there's not a lot of traffic right now.

A car behind me honks. I just had to speak too soon.

I roll down the windows and motion for the driver to turn around, and then re-start the car again . . . not. The honking continues though. I just roll my eyes and jab my arm out the window again, rain pelting the sleeves of my jacket, and twirl my finger in the air.

Re-start.

Honk.

Die.

Honk.

Re-start.

Honk.

Fuck. I'm so close to beating up this guy's sorry as--

Honk.

That's it. I walk out the car and into the pouring rain, pulling my hood up with a scowl, and walk over in front of the other car. The windshield's all blurred. "What the fuck is wrong with you?!" I shout over the harsh pound of raindrops all around me. "I have been motioning you to just use the other lane, you idiot! Can't you use your brain? People like you are the reason the world's economy is all fucking shitty! Can't even follow a single fucking sign. You know, what? Just run me over, please! I'm sure you'd be doing both of us a favor!" I move closer so my thighs are pressed to the bumper, red-faced. "Go on, then. Do it! I dare you!"

The car door opens, an umbrella opening up, and a man proceeds to get out.

My jaws drop.

Him

Liam smirks at me. "Looks like somebody hasn't changed a single bit."

I stare at him. "I can't believe this," I whisper, and then the wind brushes coldly at my cheeks and my chest boils. "You! Why is it that when something bad happends to me, you're always there? Are you the Devil or something?" It thunders. I look up at the sky and shout, "Stop it with the omens already, okay?!"

He barks out a laugh, all croaky and a little obscurred by the raindrops. He moves closer so we're both under his umbrella. "Thought you might need some help."

"What are you doing here?" It comes out cold, but inside I feel fuzzy and warm. Ugh. Not again.

He shrugs. "Fate took me here. And your brother's directions."

I glare. "What are you doing here, Liam?"

"Came for you."

"Don't be an idiot. You have a life there."

He stares at me for a while. "I broke it off completely with Zayn the second school began. And plus I got a passport. And also, I'm studying here."

"What?"

He grins. "Amazing right? It's destiny, I swear."

I just stare at him for a while, letting his words sink in. Liam. Here. Study. With me. Is he stupid? "You can't just leave your life there!"

He rolls his eyes. "I'm not leaving my life there. I'm just going to study here, and then go back when summer comes around."

Something in me sinks. "You're going back?"

"With you, hopefully." He smiles, and it's that genuine twist of lips again. My stomach jumps. "So, what do you say, wanna ride?"

"I'm going to have to think about it." I jog quickly back to my car, bundle up the paperwork and tuck it under my jacket, then lock the old convertible. He smiles when he sees me walking back to him. I don't though. I walk past him and get into the passenger's seat, slamming the door shut. Just because I can.

"So, is this a yes?" he asks when he slides in beside me.

I can't hold down the grin anymore. "Shut up and drive."

      (end)

I'm sorry. I'm so sorry. I know it sucked and it was rushed and you're probably so disappointed now, but the thing is I can't play this story's plot anymore. I got bored. I'm so so so sorry.

Still, I'd like to thank all of you. Thank you. So much. I appreciate all the support.

So yeah. bye.
