The rainbow is my butterfly,
floating from star to star.
And I am a child
merry at its pursuit
but never wanting to catch it
for fear of harming its
gossamer wings and waking
from a lovely dream.
I do let the rainbow
dance in my hands and
I do let it play with the
colors of my hair
but I would never dream of
keeping one for my very own,
for I know that it would just fade
to nothingness.
