"WHO'S THERE? HOLD YOUR HANDS UP HIGH OR WE WILL SHOOT!" The guards of the 25th North sector shined their flashlight and their mounted riffles at the limping shadow, slowly crawling under a broken section of the fence.
"I WILL NOT REPEAT MY SELF! IDENTIFY YOURSELF OR I WILL SHOOT!" But the shadow continued to crawl forward, carefully moving its limbs under 10,000 volts of electric fencing. The middle aged guard with no proof or indication that the shadow was even human, began to set the rifle's aim at what he thought was its head. One shot and the rifles .577 caliber bullet will make pudding of anything, whether it being an animal, a human, or other.
"IDENTIFY OR I WILL SHOOT IN ONE, TWO, THR.."
"Don't....shoot..." Vic barely got the words out.
"HQ, we've got confirmation, human. I will now assess the situation." The last of Vic's leg was out of the danger of the electric fence, when exhaustion took his last pulse of energy. He lay-ed there, with barely enough energy to keep his eye open, the other had been blood shut after fighting that pack of arkeons. The guard after making sure that Vic could no longer move, began to search, in hope to find an identification tattoo.
"HQ, I have found a IDT (ID Tattoo)"
"Clear AB23- we need color, a name, or Number.."
"Well that's what’s wrong, his IDT is green , name is Vic Z, number is 914947. Can you confirm that?" But the guard was responded by static and faint commands by a higher authority. Commands not meant for him.
"HQ, can you confirm that?"
"......"
"HQ? AB23 here, can you hear me?"
"AB23 this is Major Rivera, you can refer to me as Ang, Sergeant I need confirmation of health..."
"Major Rivera? I..."
"Never mind the formalities Sergeant! I need a health check! And I need it NOW! "
"Uhm, sorry sir! Uhh...subject seems to be unconscious at the moment, shows signs of extreme dehydration and major bruises all over his body....Sir?
"Listen to me Sergeant, I am sending a helicopter to that location, you are to stay with the subject!"
"But sir! I can easily carry him to base!"
"Listen to me Sergeant! You are not to move, or leave Vic's... I mean the subject’s side until our medical team comes to assess his condition! Do I make myself clear?"
"Yes sir!" And like promised, three minutes went by before the helicopter came and a group of 7 medics carried Vic to where he would be treated. Little did that guard know what he had just found.
"Vic...." Vic had always been fond of sleeping, especially dreaming. It showed him a world without vacancies. A world not half destroyed, a world where he could retain all that he loved, without ever worrying about losing. But at the same time, he despised these dreams, because he knew that what they were showing him were lies...
"Vic..." Here he was, dreaming about her, of her calling his name. And he couldn't help but smile. How he missed her. He couldn't wait to see her, to fix what he had broken, he couldn't wait.
"Vic, wake up... wake up..." But as he opened his eyes, he wasn't met by her. She hadn't come and again, after a short lived moment where he felt full, he fell empty again.
Ang, or Angel, stood beside his hospital bed, trying to rip him from that sweet world, into this cold and unforgiving Hell.
"Where, where am I?" Vic slowly rose to the smell of antiseptics and the feeling of death around him. The hospital walls spun and swirled, Vic's stomach clenched.
