Taehyung was sitting on the edge of his balcony, his hair being tousled by the strong winds in the brisk of night.
Tic Toc. Tic Toc.
The hands on the clock tower were sluggishly nearing 12:00 AM. It was currently half past eleven and it felt as if time couldn't go by any slower.
He was really doing this, he thought. He was really going to escape this living hell.
The boy gulped as the clock continued to move closer and closer to midnight and decided now was the time to make his move.
Taehyung swiftly moved onto his feet as he tiptoed out of his room and made his way to the designated spot. He'd be stupid to leave through the main entrance, so he did some exploring around the castle previously within the day and found an emergency exit with a ladder leading down to the east side of the castle; right where he needed to be.
Of course, it was managed by a castle guard but he was sure he could distract him somehow, like in one of those cliché stories where someone would throw a rock and they would get up and see where the noise came from.
And that's exactly what he was planning to do.
He chuckled to himself at his genius plan before giving a quick slap to his cheeks as this was not the time to be laughing. Although he had to admit he's always wanted to try something like this.

Checking every corner of the halls, he felt like he was in Spy Kids, but he wasn't being very subtle with his actions. Somehow, though, he managed to reach the hatched door with no encounters along the way.
Suddenly, a loud ring could be heard from outside the castle, signifying that it was finally midnight. Taehyung bit his bottom lip as he tried to contain his excitement. He quickly adjusted his bag of belongings and approached the heavy wooden door with several door bolts along the side.
"Alright, this shouldn't be too difficult..." he admitted before undoing the latches. He hummed in satisfaction. "There. Easy Peasy." The boy praised himself before slightly peaking out the door to see if the guard was anywhere in sight, and long behold there stood a guard adjacent from the door, back facing the castle.
Taehyung knew this might happened so he came prepared. he wore a black mask that only revealed his piercing brown eyes and a hooded cape that draped over his entire body. "I guess I'm doing this the hard way then, sorry, little flee" he huffed as he swung open the door and quickly elbowed the soldier in the gut, knocking him unconscious.
His training in combat sure came in handy.
"That's too bad, I was hoping to use this rock," he pouted before tossing it to the side and glancing at the motionless guard. Unfortunately, he couldn't just leave him there sprawled out on the ground, so he dragged his body to the side of the castle, leaning him against the cold bricks.
He dusted off his hands and gave one last look to the man. "Sleeping on the job will get you in trouble if anyone finds out, mister..." The prince shook his head innocently before turning towards the forest and started running as fast as his legs could.

Out of breath, Taehyung groaned at his lack of energy. "Am I really this out of shape?" he questioned to himself before walking at a reasonable pace as he was nowhere in sight of the castle.
He looked around in awe at his surroundings. The trees, the chirping birds, the flowers. He admired the amount of freedom the forest had.
What a shame he's only experiencing this now.
With a heavy sigh, Taehyung slumped down against a tree and rummaged through his bag for a snack. He pulled out a bag of grapes that were luckily still fresh and started munching on them happily.
Taehyung who was in a trance still in awe of the wilderness, a sudden groan of pain could be heard which instantly pulled the boy out. He launched on his feet and listened to where the cry was coming from.
It grew louder and louder until suddenly he looked down at his feet. A look sadness and fear took over the boys features as he bent over to see a small, cute bunny with its foot caught in a bear trap. "Oh no. You poor thing!" There was blood seeping out of the paw of the animal and Taehyung freaked out, not knowing exactly what to do as his hands scurried to try to release the animal from agony.
Tears managed to trickle down his face as he tried to nudge the bear trap away from the poor defenseless bunny. "Don't worry little one, I will help you," He launched backward as the object harshly sprung open leaving the animal curled up in a tiny ball, shaking in pain.
"Hey hey, it's alright. calm down. Shhh," Taehyung lifted up the chocolate brown bunny into his arms and hushed sweetly to calm the whimpering bunny down. It's a good thing Taehyung had a first aid kit with him or else he wouldn't be able to stop the bleeding.
He gently placed the animal down and ever so carefully lifted it's back leg so he could wrap it up with gauze. "There. Hopefully, that should stop the bleeding for a bit, love," He smiled before picking up the bunny, cradling it in his arms which quickly nuzzled up to Taehyung and drifted off to sleep.
And before Taehyung knew it, he also found himself being extremely exhausted after today's events.
But before he managed to fall into a deep slumber with the bunny still snuggled up against him, he softly whispered,
"For once I'm not alone."
